    idle issues

for some odd reason no matter how many times i adjustit, the idle seems to act up.

its supposed to idle at around 750-900rpms. but for some odd reason, it idles at like 500-600rpms. ive gone through the Haynes manual and ive followed the directions to the tee. ive cleaned the IAC valve, adjusted the FITV, ive checked for leaks. but nothing.

Syntoms: i adjusted the idle and at start up it would have the flucterating idle(bouncing up and down) between 15ooRPMs and 2,oooRPMs. i adjust it so it doesnt idle like that and when i stop at lights or have the car in park it'll idle at 500-600RPMs.

Actions Taken: ive adjusted the IAC valve, changed the PCV valve, adjusted the idle screw, but it seems like every time i do any of this it just goes back to where it was before, idling at 500-600RPMs.

i need some help, i know its not good for the oil pressure to idle below its normal idle.

I just cant belive that your car idles at 200-300 rpms, what kind instrument are you using to measure this? the idle screw dose not do much, because the idle control valve just readjust itself to idle where the computer wants. you should check the idle control valve to make sure it is functioning properly.

i look at the tach on the dash. which one is the idle control valve?(yeah i know thats a stupid question. lol. but i get confused sometimes when i look at them. lol. but which one is it? is the one on the side on the IM or the skinny one on the front of it with the 3 bolts?

The tach doesn't read below 500RPM I believe.
        wat?

lmao. you know what? i think your right. its idling at like 600-700RPMs then. lol. let me edit the 1st post. my bad. had the wrong image in my head

ninja edit: edited the 1st post. its 500-600PRMs, not 200-300.

I don't think you did the idle adjustment procedure correctly.

What I did the other day that got me a smoother idle, start the car warm it up, then unplug the IAC then get the idle as low as you can with out it dieing out. then pull the ecu fuse reconnect the IAC start the car , Did that because I don't have the DVOM like the manual says you use.
              wat?

trust me. i followed it to the tee man. when it comes to something like that i dont skip over stuff. i made sure i followed the instuctions. every time the idle wasnt right, i turned the car off, unplugged the battery and the IACV, took out the radio(backup) fuse, set it by a little bit, and plugged everything back up. after that like after about 30min of driving it would go back to the 500-600RPM idle.

proper procedure is let the car warm up (fans come one then off) kill car...unplug IACV...turn on car...set idle (to like 700 I think)...kill car...plug back in

however for mine...I just adjusted it when it was warm with the IACV plugged in...my idle screw keeps backing out once every month...I adjust it every month on the dot...cold weather makes it back out faster...but that's just mine.

the idle screw does a lot when it's backed out...and it'll raise the idle pretty quickly when you back it out.

I suggest leaving the IACV plugged in, back the screw out until the rpm's raise enough to your desired level. Do that after it's warmed up...give it a shot see if that works...if you back the idle screw out enough...it will raise the idle...just don't go over 900 rpms

Take the bypass screw out and give it a clean. Then refit it after lightly painting the thread with a non hardening gasket sealant (I used Loctite No3 Aviation Gasket Sealant). This will improve the screw seal, but also make the thread bit sticky so it won't back out any more.
                          Regards from Oz,
