Transmission Problems

The sports light in my console has been flashing erradically. I know this is an indicator for a possible transmission problem. My question is what are common probelms with Automatic transmissions in the CB7? I am asking so that I can determine a price range for repairs.

Could be anything from a speed sensor problem to a faulty transmission control unit.

You should pull the codes and report back here what codes they are. There's tons of write-ups on how to pull the codes or just ask if you don't know. You pull them the same way you would pull codes for your check engie light, except you want to count the blinks of the D4 or Sport light.

Here's the possible tranny codes

code # - cause of error
1. - lock up clutch solenoid A
2. - lock up clutch solenoid B
3. - TPS
4. - VSS
5. - A/T gear position switch
6. - A/T gear position switch
7. - shift control solenoid A
8. - shift control solenoid B
9. - countershaft speed sensor
10. - ECT
11. - ignition coil
14. - ECU
15. - mainshaft speed sensor
