I have been told through the grapevine that the h23ecu will "plug and play" into the f22 factory wiring harness. I have also been told by others that it won't fit and that it is not plug and play. Who is right? And if it is "plug and play," how come nobody just doesn't use the h23 ecu instead of an f22 ecu. I am currently using my f22ecu on my h23 engine but want to upgrade to the p14 (h23ecu) and want to make sure I can just plug and play and not have to worry about doing anything else. I just want to plug in the p14ecu, and drive. Commentary anyone?

h23 ecu on an f22? Why not?

Actually I have been using the f22ecu since I got the swap roughly 3 or 4 years ago. By this time I have gotten it serviced so often and with the iridium spark plugs and Ams oil, it runs so smooth that at red lights I think my car is off...no joke. I can't believe how smooth it is. But my thinking is that my tech has tuned my engine so that it would run smooth with the f22 ecu. I wonder if he is gonna have to retune my engine after I get the h23ecu? I really just want to plug it in and drive...no tuning...no techs."This is a jaded bunch. To gain notice, you have to challenge conventional wisdom, test assumptions, and ignore the naysayers."

And if it does just plug right in, how come nobody uses the h23ecu instead of the f22 ecu?"This is a jaded bunch. To gain notice, you have to challenge conventional wisdom, test assumptions, and ignore the naysayers."

Don't know why others use the F22 ECU. The H23 ECU's can be trickey to get a hold of sometimes. That might be part of the reason. I would think the F22 ECU would run it slightly lean. Not enough to do damage though. I don't know but I would think the H23 ECU would be the best match for the motor. I know the F22 & H22 ECU's are much more commonly re-chipped and modified and I see H23 owners getting tuneable stand alone aftermarket ECU's instead of re-chip jobs. Maybe there is some other benefit from using the F22's?

Actually WeDgE, I didn't have the ecu at the time...which is not like me because I always seem to have extra random stuff lying around...extra set of Neu. Konis, High Dot brake fluid, green stuff brake pads...just random extra stuff that I plan on putting on or using but haven't. Since I didn't have an "extra" h23ecu, I just used what came with the car. But it made me wonder what I am missing. Also made me wonder why if it is plug and play that no one uses the h23 ecu on the f22. Seems like gains are to be had for a small price. I mean I recently saw an h23ecu for 5spd. go for roughly $30 shipped! And thanks for the info Acclude91."This is a jaded bunch. No prob. But I've also been kinda replying wrong. You're asking about an H23 ECU on an F22 motor and I thought you were currently using an F22 ECU on a H23 motor. Using the H23 ECU on an F22 motor might not be worth your time. The stock F22 ECU usually defaults to running slightly rich under most conditions so that you do not damage the motor. The H23 ECU would try to cram even more fuel in and make it run even richer. If you had a fully ported & polished head, good exhaust, bored & polished TB, and good intake then I would say it might be worth your time. Without the motor breathing a lot easier you would just run it rich and end up losing power plus the bonus of your exhaust smelling like unburned gas. Maybe someone on here has actually done this so they might be able to tell you first hand. I'm just guessing.

Nah, actually you have been posting right all the way through. My first question was "will the h23 ecu plug and play into the cb7 OEM wiring". My second question was "if it is plug and play, than how come nobody uses the h23 ecu instead of the f22 ecu on their f22." So you actually answered both questions."This is a jaded bunch.
