Beefy vicegrips or an O2 socket...preferably the O2 socket.

It just has a slot in the side so you can get the socket on without destroying the wires.

You could use a wrench. I used an adjustable to break off my friend maxima o2. It works.

PB blaster is like a WD40 liquid penetrant , but 200X better.

Cool. I will use some wd40 because I am strap for cash and use a regular wrench and will update thread tomorrow.

if you have a Big Lot's near you, you can get a full sized can of PB Blaster for less than a $1.50.

True, just be careful if you have a stock a1 manifold. There's a protrusion that keeps the crescent wrench from getting all the way down there properly, it's easy to round that way. If you have a header or an a4 or a6, you can do that. But it's still always better to use a socket or box-end wrench, but your box-end won't fit over the connector (I'm pretty sure), so you're best getting the O2 socket. Besides, you can borrow it for free from autozone. Just leave a deposit... Might as well use the right tools if they're free, right?

when i removed my A1 manifold, the o2 sensor was still attached.

i just soaked the area for a few mins with PB blaster and then found a wrench that would fit on the sensor and went to town with it against a wall with a hammer.

Yeah I could not get it off with just the o2 sensor socket. I guess i will either have to spray it with wd-40 or get that pb blaster. But yeah that fucker is on there.

What you might try doing is also running the car for a few minutes to heat up the manifold. This will expand the metal, and should make it easier to remove the O2 sensor.

Soak it with penetrating oil overnight and get a O2 sensor socket or a 19mm open/box wrench should also work fine.
