    ENG: Manual Transmission Fluid Change

    Hey everyone:

I've noticed that everyone here has done write-ups on how their DIY's were done, how about a video....

    http://youtu.be/Rhpmi9uZbkk

The timing on some of the captions are off, but I didn't arrange that...

Lemme know what you guys think.

Have already done this...but there was no video like yours to help me...Very good. Best camera views so far in a DIY, even the sideways shots and the cat too! Not sure I heard, for future change, where did you get the pump? I used a very long tubed funnel. Also too much noise to hear how you stopped the dripping when you filled it...I didn't have any dripping, so I'm confused. Was that plug not tighten down?...you said to "hand tighten".
Great DIY and I think all of them should be video's. Tell us how you made it and what you used to caption and post it..I would love to learn how.

The pump I got from Autozone for like 7 bucks. It attaches to any gallon jug like the engine oil jugs. The gallon jug I used was a water bottle that was fully dried out. It didn't latch on like it should but still worked...

If you didn't get any fluids dripping out, maybe you didn't fill it up enough. Its okay to overfill and let gravity do the leveling for you. That's what I did. I kept pumping until the fluids started dripping, then I stopped pumping, and plugged it up when it stopped dripping as I watched it. Underfilling may cause problems with vital parts not getting the lube they need. Overfilling is just as bad. The car MUST be level, ground-wise and jacks too, since they have notches. And the tightening? Once I felt it start to get snug, I did another quarter turn. Basically, if you had new washers, you turn until you "feel" the crush washers get crushed. No need for a torque wrench...

As far as the YouTube vids, if you have an account, you will have "Video Manager" options where you will be able to insert Captions, Annotations (pop-up notes), and even effects. The captions, for me, took the longest because you can only type up what you can hear and understand. They got video tutorials on how to insert the captions and annotations also.

But yes, I do feel the same way about write ups being on video. "Vid-ups" is what I would call them...
