    ENG: cleaning your throttle body

I was bored and really badly wanted to do something to my car and i decided to clean my throttle body and in the process i decided why not tell others how to do this(the less experienced of course) so here ya go:

first off pop your hood of course and follow your intake tubing to your throttle body(in other words to where the hose hooks up to the big metal thing)

now locate the clamp holding the hose to the tb.

now take a small phillips screw driver and unscrew the clamp

next pull the tubing off of the tb, you may want to pull off the vacum hose first to avoid ripping it, but i didnt

If you didnt already pull off that vacum hose off of the intake tube

now pull the intake tubing away from the tb, i moved it down, and inspect the tb and clean it off with a rag and some tb cleaner or carb cleaner will do.

as you can see my tb was pretty nasty(seen worse though)

while i had the intake tubing off i inspected the tubing and man was it dirty i also whiped this out

now your done just do everything in reverse and dont forget the vacum line. Hopefully this will help people out and let them know how to take care of your engine cause anything in that tb is getting sucked into ur engine, pretty bad if you think about it. Next up for me is cleaning my iac valve thingy

You really need an oil catch can. I've never seen a throttle body that dirty.

Nice writeup, now step up to something more complicated.

Is it okay to squirt some tb cleaner inside or past the butterfly flaps?
                          THanks.

yes this is easy and i know alot of people will know how to do this but its just a lil reminder for people to do it, why not anyways yeah it is ok to spray some cleaner as in tb cleaner or carb cleaner (same thing) in the tb, if u really wanna get into it i would take the tb off and give it a real good cleaning, but i'm not gonna at this moment. Im currently doing some bodywork on my cb7 (fixing some rust in the truck infront of the right taillight) i just painted it today, dang flat black looks tight, i think i just gonna keep going and o the whole car, kinda ran out of time today, i had to work
