I finally got these installed a couple days ago, I also installed my ds2 hid kit using the H4 adapter shield but I'm a little disappointed because the light output iis limited because of the shields. They do their purpose of creating a cutoff and eliminationg glare but it noticeable reduces output. If I get a chance this weekend I'll do my e46 retrofit.

exactly...i prefer the 90-91 than the 92-93 because I get to black out the chrome trim also which makes it look way hotter as you can see in this pic

cool....I'm really reluctant to doing the retro tho but these h4 adapter shields suck ass....I think I'm gonna just cut part of the shield off you get more output but if that doesnt work them I'll have to hack em for the retro.

I'm just gonna mount the projectors to the low beam reflector plates and widen the opening inthe back for the ballast to connect. I just have to make sure the projectors are centered properly and securely and I will just use the stock adjusters for final adjsutments. I cant afford 30 hour downtimelike most of the other retrofitters says you need so I'm planning on doing this in one full day, start early morning end at night where adjustment and aiming will be done. I have it planned out so I think I'm ahead of the game. Wish me luck

You black out the chrome trim, then block most of it with the eyelids...

As you can see in the pic the grille/eyelid is loose because its not really on. Will be making a custom grille without lids so I will be selling this grille soon.

Ive always loved the chrome trim on the 90/91 one pieces, so Im not a fan of the blacked out part, BUT JDM one pieces look good no matter what.
