That lens does not have auto-focus, if you did not know.

besides, you alsready have a Nikon 18-55 lens (I'm assuming), so this lens is not much different.

Tamron's are good. My friend just got a D80 with 2 Tamron lenses, and the quality is damn good.

If you're looking at that lens just because of the fisheye adapter, save your money and just get an adapter for your Nikon lens (should be 52mm thread size)

thats not even the cheapest one.

you can get one for like 40 bucks shipped.

then you just screw it onto your 18-55 Nikon lens (with 52mm filter thread size)

agreed... but he wants a pic like that one he posted.

kinda looks like crap to me. you could do that with any normal pic & photoshop without the need for an adapter.

this is 100% correct. jack and i have gone through this and have wasted a few hundred. the link on the op has nothing really significant about it besides the zoom it provides. i don't recomend buying an adaptor lens on a dslr, yea i know lens are expensive but your defeating the purpose of using a dslr.

i didnt know we have all these experts haha. but chec out dpreview.com they do reviews on anything and everything camera related. their reviews are not biased either

oh i know that, believe me

i just dont have 500+bucks right now cause i still need a car, and then tools on top of that

{edit} so heres my last 2 questions

                    1. and lens that has 52mm threads would fit my camera?

                    and

                    2. how do i tell if its a lense that will take a picture like the one i posted?

did you get your D40 kit at walmart?

if it came with the 18-55 Nikon lens, then yes... that has a 52mm filter size.

                          check ebay for 52mm fisheye
buy the cheapest one... they're all pretty much the same
