Personally I would look to see if you could get a D80. D50 is a great camera, i used to shoot with it when i was in college. D80 is just newer technology and has a larger display screen. I got a used D200 recently for a backup and paid 650 so D80 should be available for not more than 500.
I paid 550 for my d200 in perfect shape with all original packaging, box, etc. I've since some nice ones on craigslist for around the same cost, some less some more. One can be had for 500 if you are patient.
Its a manual focus lens, which is extremely inconvienient. Also the brand is not very well known, I could not find very many reviews about that brand.
Id search for an AF wide angle from a well known third part brand that isnt a prime. Zoom lenses are much more convenient than primes in the WA world.
