ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    My hood wont close...

As some of you may have noticed, its REALLY cold out! All sorts of things are acting up, chief among which is my hood refuses to close. The safety latch is engaging, so it stays down, it just won't close all the way. I've pushed down part of the latch, which is normal procedure. As far as I can tell the tracks are clear, but I'm out of ideas, sort of figuring out a way to heat it up.
Here's a link to my various cold troubles: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=169967
Again; I'm on my phone, so I'm sorry for any spelling errors.

was the car giving you problems before or this is new? it also depends if the car was previously in accidents.

This is new, but the hood was frozen shut. The hood isn't warped, I think something is just frozen somewhere.

I didn't check the hinge. I'll head on out there later today and clean everybit of snow I can.

this happens to old hondas all the time!! either due to a dry latch hinge, or a sticking cable.

there is a little nub/hook that sticks up and to the left from the center of the hinge, it has a spring hooked onto the end of it. when the hood is up in the air, push that little bar DOWN (as if the spring pulled it)... THEN try closing the hood, should work no problem.

if this piece does not re-seat itself automatically, itll be next to impossible to try to get your hood to close past the safety... ive come across people in parking lots smashing/denting their hoods trying to get them to close, and every time: one simple motion and problem is gone.

Who the fuck dents their own hood?

I would give it one or two good slams by letting it drop from a few inches up like i usually do and it if it didn't latch i would investigate....

i would never smash or dent my own hood lol.

Maybe you need to tighten the latch and check your locking mechinism... often over time you need to grease them up and make sure the lock is not staying locked or engaged... some wd40 on both is a good start as often crap can get stuck in the lock and can cause it to not lock right... best of luck man...

That's the normal sticking cable I was trying to describe. I pushed it back but the hood still won't click!

What I did to fix the hood not closing was to raise the latch up a little bit. Just loosen the bolts holding it in place, and just raise it a little at a time. I did it, and I didn't notice it being any less flush. I would assume that after 18 plus years of force pushing down on it, it will slip down a little. Try it, it works
