92 LX - I have intermittent dash display indicating a brake light out. But a check of the brake lights indicate that they are working properly. Is there a common loose connection/ground somewhere that I can fix? Thanks.

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Hello friend, welcome to the site
This is a common problem, there are brown and black "sensor" boxes mounted into the rear outer tail lamps and they tend to go bad, or at least have poor connections.
If you want to try restoring the functionality, make sure your tail light bulb sockets and related connectors are shiny and clean. It is common for the bulb sockets to get corroded, creating a false "disconnected" signal that the sensor box is incorrectly triggered by.
You can also try replacing the boxes, but the new ones you get might also be bad. If you know how to solder, you can open the boxes up and re-solder all of the connection points on the circuit board, because sometimes the original solder joints fail from heat and vibration over the years, causing the same "disconnected" signal.
If all else fails, there is a trick to bypass this circuit entirely to make the dashboard light stay OFF - you can see the simple wiring change in the picture below. This change is performed on the driver side outer tail lamp, at the brown box.
In case it isn't clear or the picture gets lost: you cut (or de-pin) the White/Green wire (white with a green stripe), and connect it - the harness side - to the Black ground wire.Last edited by cp[mike]; 12-09-2019, 04:36 PM.

The actual wire that you need to ground is WHITE with a GREEN STRIPE.
Some of the information suggested that it was a green wire with a white stripe, which is not true.
Make sure you grounded the correct one?

What's odd about mine is the black box is on the left side and brown is on the right. Both sides have a white w/ green stripe. I tried both sides independently without results. I've come to terms that I'm just going to have to remove the cluster and take out the bulb.

If you have water leaks around the tail lights, that can cause the issue as well.90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450

Have you checked your brake fluid level and/or the fluid level sensor? It lights up the same dash light as the brake lights.

BRAKE indicator at the top (in the cluster of indicators):
- parking brake is engaged, or
- brake fluid is low
BRAKE LAMP indicator at the bottom (in the little car door diagram):
- brake light is burnt out, or
- the sensor box (or the wiring) burnt out
the fix listed in this thread covers the BRAKE LAMP warning light.
