ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    tach off by 400rpm?

I've done some searching with very little satisfactory results. My issue is, without verification, that my tach is of by 400 rpms or so. At warm idle it reads 1150. To my ears and body, it sounds and feels like 750 or optimal range at least. What ways can I verify this. I can deal with the tach being off as long as I know it's actually true.

What year and model Accord? Auto or 5 speed? Did it happen suddenly, or gradually shift over time? Do you think it is shifted (400 high all the time), or is it even more off at higher engine speeds?

It's a 93 ex automatic. I bought it last year and it's been like that since then. This was the least of my worries and repairs, but all the other things before have been taken care of. I'm not really sure if it carries thru evenly all the way up the rpm but I imagine it does.

What happens if you disconnect the IACV? Find a deserted road. Put the gear selector in 1; let the engine idle at the 1150 rpm and see what speed the car attains (level ground). Same thing for second - for both gears, accelerate above the 1150 rpm, then let it settle back to 1150; note the speed it maintains. Running stock size (195-60/15) tires? With this info, we can estimate the engine speed.

To troubleshoot properly, you’ll need to try swapping in known-good components: distributor, ECU, and gauge cluster. Of course, that can get expensive and time consuming.
