They're an accessory item that breaks up the solid area of the door, much like our shopping cart bumpers, but serves a more aesthetic purpose. I like them on TL's.
I think they're called "Body Side-Moldings" in the catalog..

Nice.
FYI
Take off the splash guards before waxing. The wax really loves to cling to the material they're made out of for some reason. When i was detailing for the Honda shop we would tape them off if already installed so as not to get any waxes or other chemicals on them cause they would turn white and it was a bitch to remove without discoloring the guards permanently.
Looks good man. We just got a couple inches of snow here in Bend too.

Such beautiful styling. I've always loved these. I almost bought one for my wife but ended up buying a Mazda 6s instead.

Time for suspension upgrades..?
Sways, spring, struts and tower braces would stiffen things up nicely and transmit more road feel to the driver. Even the Type-S feels much sportier than a base TL. Although the steering rack is a large parts of road feel...might look into an upgrade in that department as well..
Still though, for a cruiser, the TL looks very nice and is still miles better than a camry.
