ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Tick sound and air coming out of plugs?

Getting a small tick in the head of my car, and there is air coming out of where the spark plugs drop down into the motor. Only 2 of them. One of them is bad enough it moves the rubber part thats exposed up and down. Is this a normal thing? Car runs perfect other than that.....its worse after it sits a few days. 1993 f22a1 Sedan

You pulled the plugs to see if the top of the plugs (Terminal/ ceramic top) is broken? they usually will turn on themselves, inspect for cracks aswell on the terminal. The only other thing that would cause compression to seep by is stripped threads on the cylinder head.

Only reason's air would seep by the plug unless they weren't tightened down correctly. And taking the head off has nothing to do with the plug threads in the cylinder head.

You would be surprised, I had a brand new one that ceramic part spun freely in the metal housing.

As far as the ticking, you need your valves adjusted.

Yep it's common, but i've only had 2 sets in my life do it.

You don't need to remove the head to strip a spark plug hole. I have damaged threads in 2 of my plug holes. Occasionally, one plug will push halfway out and make a terrible knocking sound.

And yes, the ticking is likely the valves, or the injectors. We have noisy injectors.

Couldn't you use those Helicoils to repair that?

yes but sometimes you can clean the threads up with a chaser/tap

Well nothing was stripped, but every one of them was loose. Other than the oil now in the holes, all is well!

Leaking from the combustion chamber shouldn't have resulted in a lot of oil in the spark plug holes. More likely that the spark plug tube seals (upper and lower) are leaking. If they are leaking very badly, they could also account for some air leakage from the crankcase to the spark plug holes.

you should remove your cam cage and replace the gaskets/ o-rings from there up, after that a valve adjustment and you should be set for a bit.
