This is my EJ8
And this is what i did to it. the heat from the bearing failure caused the rod and part of the crank to turn black!
I have not even put 3000 miles on the car when i did that. I was full of fresh oil and i was driving on the freeway trying to haul ass and the car just didnt have the power it normally did. It turned out the coil was failing. I kept it opened up around 6k on a 7 k motor for about a mile and it caused this.
Was it me? should i not rev my honda? I use the full rpm range on all of my cars but dont abuse them.
It seemed like d series motors use to almost be given away, now all of the ones that came up for sale where expensive or had a rod knock or a hole in the block.
I have never known a f series to blow unless you run it out of oil. they are almost indestructible.
Whats up with all of the blown D series motors?! I am trying to figure out what caused mine to blow so i dont do it to my new motor any ideas?
this is my new motor. I am in the process of cleaning it up and waiting to get a clutch, head gasket and timing belt in. I am just worried about doing the same thing to my new motor! It was so hard to find a d16y8 i had to buy a y7 and swap my head onto it
