frohawker : 1990 Accord LX

Start up videos at the bottom of the page!!!

That is Charlene (Charley) my 90 LX.

Engine:
F22a1 (234,000 on block 24,000 since rebuilding in mid-late 07.)

9.3:1 pistons w/ Chromoly rings
EX camshaft (This is what i'm guessing cause we don't honestly know)
92 EX ECU
Brass valve guides

K&N 20* angled tapered filter
DCsports 4-2-1 ceramic headers
hollow Cat-converter
Apexi WS2 2.25" cat-back

f22 suckumatic tranny

Exterior:

205-60-r15 tires (i'm at work and can't go check this for certain)
replaced passenger tail light

Interior:
fixed broken passenger door handle
custom head liner
Rear seat and trim removed

Suspension:
Stock

now pictures!

these are right after the rebuild when i was still running a 3" modified integra SRI

Unfortunately for Charley, she was needing some help and wrecked into a van on the freeway from shot brakes

Well it was clean. Fix damage and remove those stickers, and she'll be ready to roll.

And this is where the 91 EX comes into play

I picked her up for $650. engine had a shotty timing belt repair among the other numerous crap we found taking the f22a4 out. if that thing ever ran it'd be a miracle. the bumper was secured with 2 inch metal screws. some stuff simply wasn't connected. bolts too short to torque down mounting brackets. seems like i got ripped slightly. But i sold the engine and tranny for 200 and the dude held the car for me to buy for like a good month and a half. i basically paid 400 bucks for a sunroof and straighter front end.

Current build plans:
TASauto big brake kit/ROH conversion $879
--11.1" cross-drilled slide on rotors
--15vn (Prelude Vtec) calipers
--Eagle one-piece Stainless Steel braided brake lines
--Hawk pads
--CL hubs
--New bearings
New Axles ($95 Cross country auto parts)
New mounts (2/4)
fill the new mounts with poly (Waiting on mounts)
lowering springs and struts (no name. i bought them for 20 bucks off of craigslist from some guy who no longer owned an accord.)
Battery Relocation (Summit $120)
Interior steamcleaning ($50 waiting till the car is running)
A6 intake with IAB

Future plans:
Bisi Level 2 spec cam
Bisi Pro Springs
Bisi Cam gear
po6 ECU
Hondata s100 (need to research this more or drop your $0.02)
5% tint in rear, 20% front
JDM one-piece headlights
CD5 front lip
OEM Flushmount
TASauto level 2 suspension kit
TASauto poly bushing kit
gutted h23/a6 hybrid manifold

Ultimate dream build:
H22 longblock bored 1mm over (bumps displacement up 50cc)
forged and lightened f22 crank (strokes displacement to 2.4 litres)
forged h22 rods
forged, coated 10.5 or 11:1 pistons
chromoly rings
1mm oversized valves
brass valve guides
bisi pro springs
Bisi level 2 cam
bisi cam gears
titanium retainers
teflon spacers
lightened flywheel
m2b4 LSD 5 spd

stickers are mostly gone except the three on the drivers side
1. "Vote Pro-choice"
2. "Bad Sex Sucks"
3. "Hi, I don't care. Thanks"

those are just too fitting for me and my car. the stickers on the window have been there since my first car back in like '05. the EX will undoubtedly have some smart ass remarks. like "thank god i'm agnostic" and "more orgasms fewer children"

Update

Started prepping the white engine bay last night. Sprayed down with degreaser, removed stock brake hub assembly, and took a shit ton of pictures of the blue engine bay for reference. honestly i had to stop taking pictures cause my phone was full. The engine will be ripped out in the next day or two and hopefully dropped back in just as quick.....

The '91 EX doesn't look too bad! Paint that OEM wing to match the car and clean that engine bay!

Thumbs up

so far today has been highly productive. degreased and pressure washed the EX engine bay, removed the ac compressor, condenser, and lines, removed stock brake assembly up to removing the brake lines. The flare nut wrench i needed wasn't in the set. all the other ones were except the one i need...go figure well my dad just helped me to prep the LX engine bay to have it's heart ripped out took a good 2 hours but only a few annoying tadbits remain. like tranny cooler lines, heater core lines, and fuel lines. we don't have a cherry picker on hand at the moment so it's on hold pending that.

plans for tomorrow include cleaning the LX engine bay to rid the grease and (fingers crossed) will pull the engine out. though that's up in the air cause i told my gf originally that we'd spend the day together..... we'll see how that pans out!

and now it's the end of the month and the engine still sits in the engine bay. my dad had to BUY a 36mm socket because we didn't know any friend with a machine shop that had one. 24 dollars ugh. well we're stuck at popping the lower control arm free of the ball joint. add to that the 95 degree heat and workin in the sun...we decided a break and a reference to the trusty ol' forum its my birthday monday and it hurts not bein able to drive her.

so it has been about idk....a while now since i've update this page. much has been done!!! the car is nearly finished!

Sunday: My dad and I put *back) together the suspension of the blue CB so we could move it out of the middle of the driveway. my mom was kinda getting tired of parking in the rocks and on the road. anyways... we also managed to drop in the engine into the white CB. and might i say it is so much easier to drop in the engine than it is to pull out. maybe it was the Non-wrecked front end or the grace of whatever higher power at be.

Monday: I woke up and started working at like 1030. swapped intake manifolds, wired everything back up, connected hoses, had to remove the front mount bolt (which i ended up breaking one end) to install the header, bolted on the ALT, dropped in the radiator and connected all lines, bolted suspension together, installed passenger side CV shaft, and then called it a day.

Today: I woke up (again) and started working at like 930. well since i had put in the pass. axle, next was the drivers axle. unfortunately i could not for the got damned life of me get that some bitch in there. i tried over and over for a good hour, took a break, tried again no luck. so i moved on and installed the passenger side Stainless Steel braided brakelines, Vtec calipers, 2.3 cl hubs, hawkhead pads, and 11.1" crossdrilled rotors. took a break for lunch and well just chill. tried the axle again. no luck. so i said screw it.

A few hours later... my dad came home and popped the axle in there in about 5 minutes. Sad that five minutes held me up for basically the day. oh well. next i bolted up the driverside brake assembly. and this is where i sat for about an hour trying to decide the best way in which to run the brake lines. i bolted them on, turned the wheel to check for clearance, checked both sides, turned the other way, checked for clearance, used a jack to check for shock travel. well each side was bolted up differently. and my indecision made me bolt up the pass side about 4-5 times before i decided which was least likely to have failure.

so now the engine, transmission, suspension, and brakes are ready to go (minus fluids). now i need to reinstall the exhaust, run battery cable from the fuse box to the trunk, install the battery box in the trunk, switch tail lights, reinstall shift console, install rear suspension and brake lines.......i think that's it.. pics to come after i take a shower.
