    Cruise Control Diagnosis

The cruise control on my ride hasn't worked since I saved it from the scrap yard. Basically I wanted to see if the light was burned out on the switch and the steering column control worked correctly.

I used a diagnosis chart from a '90 model accord so I hope I did it right:

In my diagnosis I tested the orange wire (speed sensor) and found constant 12V so I'm going to diagnose the speed sensor next. The speedo in the dash must be cable controlled if the VSS is bad. There are no speedo or tach issues on the dash.

Also found the green/white (brake light switch) to have no effect when pedal was pushed. My brake lights work though so I was wondering if the 93 had a separate relay for this. I'll keep digging, it sucks to make long drives with no cruise or a/c.

All other diagnosis on the chart above seemed normal.

UPDATE: I got a new cruise control module and the problem is still there. I'm going nuts because my VSS and brake light switch test good at the components.

The cruise control light won't even illuminate on the switch or dash and the set and resume buttons work correctly. Is there something I'm missing?

good luck. the speedo also works off the VSS (and auto trans shifting) so maybe its somewhere in between. I had some issues when I got mine with the VSS..after messing with it, i broke down and undid the loom from the VSS to the driver side plug/socket..apparently a ground wire fried a couple mm's from the socket. cut and spliced and its worked well since (weird that it doesn't use the ground of the motor) anyway a little off topic I guess, but my cruise never worked when I got the car. I was going to delete it while I was in there doing mounts, oil press sensor, exhaust, radiator..I never got around to it. Got a new job and was on the highway and figured I try it like I always did..holy crap it works now..I dont know why, glad I didnt rip it all out haha

Thanks, I'll go and recheck individual grounds.

I removed some of the cruise control and now I use the steering wheel buttons for my A/T shift up/down.

I could never find the problem, I plan to re-wire and relocate entirely anyway.
