    OEM Foglight Switch Diagram

Okay, I got my foglight switch in. Now, there's 5 wires coming out of the harness, but 6 pins sticking out of the switch. Kinda confused, but whatever, it's probably nothing.

I need to know what wires do what. I'm assuming there's a power, ground, highbeam over ride, power out, and maybe something for the LED illumination.

Anyone know what wires do what? It's gona be a bitch and a half to try and figure it out on my own.

    From the left... (my guess)
Blue with red stripe (Highbeam override)
Red with white stripe (Power Out)
    Red with black stripe (Illumination)
Red with yellow stripe (Positive in
    Black. (ground)

i wish i could help but i dont have an OEM harness i have a 5th gen fog lights switch though...i will have a OEM harness soon though. my guess is you either are missing some wires or dont need the 6th pin.

man i had a full diagram listing each pin that i made up... but it was on my other hard drive that died recently...

i wonder if timmy0tool saved it at some point. you should ask him, me and him were discussing it together for a while.

^hmm.. I might just do that. I need to know what they to go... I'm not wiring up "fog lights" per say, so i can't just go get a wiring kit.. I just need to know what these stupid wires do. I'm gona play around for a while, if I find it, i'll post it up, if not, I'll ask timmy0tool.

          woohoo!!

pins A and D are + and - for lighting up the little foglight icon on the button face.

C gets +12V, and then B is a ground (so power flows from C, thru the indicator, out to B, making the indicator light up once the button is pressed). E is the 12v "output" to whatever item you want to be "turned on"... in all cases it should be a RELAY. relay clicking on will turn on power to wahtever you want.

the stock switch is not made to handle any high current that fogs/anything else would require, 30A relays can. the stock switch should only be used to power a relay. cant stress that enough, it could burn out your switch if you dont. and fried wiring is something you definately dont want inside of a car, its hard to diagnose and it can lead to fires and other random wiring problems.

text diagram just in case my image ever gets lost:

          Code:
           ____ ___D_______C___
          |A C| | | | |
          | D| | (~) }] |
          | E| | | | |
          | -| | | (~)--| |
          |B___| |___|___|___|___|
                             A B E

So which color wire is it that runs to the relay?

I am trying to override it so I can just have my fogs on with the corners. Then ultimatly, a highbeam override so I can have all on at once

I think PIN 87 off the OEM relay that goes to the 12 volt of the fogs is a blue wire with a pink stripe.

using the diagram listed above, it would be the red and white one..

CPMike... are you sure that's the way the diagram is supposed to go for the foglight switch?? I can't get anything to light up. I hooked up all the postives to pin 2 in the fusebox, and grounded using the ground right next to the fusebox. The switch pin is hoooked up to the relay it needs to be and all too. The relay isn't completley hooked up yet, but that shouldn't stop anything. I'm gona go play around for a little while with it, switching wires around. Any other suggustions? I hope this switch isn't dead. The bulb is fine, i checked it with the one in the defrost, so it should work fine.

                    uggh...

for the illum-dash lights there should be two wires that will have to be hooked throught the dimmer circuit
A-power for illum. to red wire
D- controls dimming illumin. to red/black wire
( can tap off neighboring switch-def. or hzd)

                      c- power source--
e- out put - to relay-
b- ground for light when lights are on

did you get it working this way? it's a lot different then the way that was posted up orignally, which is the way i have it hooked up. Lemme know, I'd really love to get this thing up and running

1badwag's layout is the same as mine, he just used different sources for +'s and -'s... but its still the same pinouts and will work either way...

i mention A and D being + from the headlights and - a regular ground... but hes right... if u want it to dim with the rest of hte dash lights pull it right from the back of the dimmer knob... in all cases when i hooked up the switches for people i spliced into the hazard button's wires for dimmable illumination

i havn't seen it.... the wiring diagram cpmike posted didn't work for me. Smoke started coming out of the switch, so somehting obviously isn't right.... i dunno though.
