Treasury bills, or T-bills, are sold in terms ranging from a few days to 26 weeks. Bills are sold at a discount from their face value. For instance, you might pay $990 for a $1,000 bill. When the bill matures, you would be paid $1,000. The difference between the purchase price and face value is interest.
You can buy bills from us in TreasuryDirect and Legacy Treasury Direct through non-competitive bidding.
I bought a 4k Bill for 26 weeks.
Hopefully i gain AT LEAST 1k which is what im hoping for.
But either way its better interest then a reg savings account.
yeah i put some money in a CD...it opened back up right as my accord broke down, with $400 it made in interest at my disposal, a.k.a. to pay for my broken car
cd is low risk, guaranteed interest rate, but the rate is very low..so its safe..but you dont make so much.
mutual funds you can fare better with, esp over time bc it depends on the market, but theres more risk involved.
tbill is non competitive, and you at least get what you put in, but usually more, its a pretty good investment...
i know i had bonds that were cashed in from when i was born, i think i was 21 before i could cash them in..that was sweet. i know i already have an ira my dad set up, and if i put in the max amout per year, in 20 yrs i get a million bucks, not too bad!!
i would invest in stocks for companies eventually, but i need to learn more, i know that etrade is popular, and easy to use, but i dont know, im scared to get into that..people have gone mad from stock investments..cant handle the pressure.
