    Help!!!!!

    I need some help.

Ok here is the deal. We bought a 97 civic ex. I went and looked the car over and didnt see much problems. I knew it needed an int door panel, hood, and front bumper.

Well I go ahead and buy the car. $2,500. Not a bad price. But when I get home I just park it.

A couple days go by, and I decide I want to go ahead and get all the parts needed to put it back together on the outside. So I get a new hood, fenders, and front bumper, and the front support bracket. I take the car down to my brother who is a welder.

He pulls the front bracket off and BAMMMMMMMM the front support beams are both bent to the pass side about 2 inches, and the pass. side one is bent down and pushed back up towards the rear( i dont know how to explain that haha) So anyways, I now know the frame is bent, but not too bad.

I get to thinking what if I just make the support correct and it will make everything allign right.....NO it didnt. I HAVE to get those supports fixed first.

So I get to talking with a guy who does frame work and also has a 00 civic si. So we talk about him taking our rebuilt shortblock (b16a) and him doing our frame work. So we bring the car to him and leave it there.

I get a call this morning. He tells me he bolted everything from his other motor onto the shortblock, and then took it all off because he changed his mind and no longer wants to go the b16a route. I am like WTF. I had a totally rebuilt motor with NOTHING ever bolted to it, and you do it and then take it off and tell me you dont want it. BS Now I cant sell it for the amount I wanted because you will be able to tell parts were on the block.

So he wants 500-600 to do the frame work and told me I shouldnt drive the car and to just leave it at his shop till I can get the money to pay him (he has NOT started on the work for the car.)

    So now my question:

Should I just go get the car and find someone else cheaper to do it? Should I just sell the car and find a stock one?(we have a guy that wants the car the way it is, for the amount we paid for it)

    Sorry for the long read.
And thanks guys for your advise

    End Rant

    Sounds like a set up.

Whose is to say Guy #1 will actually fix and still charge the initial amount discussed.

And if you find another person to fix, may be more.

    IMO/If were me, Sell it!.

yup dont make it a money pit let it be someone elses problem child. sell it before that guy changes his mind. make sure u write up a contract SOLD AS IS so they cant ever come back with issues on the car.

Are you even 100% sure he is trying to give you the same block back? Maybe he has your brand new block tucked away and he's trying to give you a POS blown motor that he cleaned up?? I vote you sell it if the buyer is aware of the problems it has and start fresh.

Well I just talked to my husband about it. He said we are deff. gonna go pick the car back up today. He doesnt want to leave it there, and shit get parted out off of the car. Or the shortblock get sold. I mean I dont think the guy will do that, but you never know.

And he said if I cant find someone to do it for around 300 we are selling the car.

So I just called a body shop down in lansing ks, and he said it will only take about 3 hours at most to do it. and he said its only 45 and hour. so it will only be like $135 to put the frame back over about an inch. Which is a lot better than $600 (the guy told me its 300 a day and will take 2 days)

anyhow, I will talk with the hub and see if he wants to pay the 135 and just turn around and sell the car for like 5k instead of 2500

Sounds like the guy took out the "rebuilt" parts of the b16.

Well I will see what he has done to the motor and if anything is wrong, i know where he lives(his shope is right behind his house)

And my husband isnt a small guy by no means, so I dont think he would fuck with us.

But you never know. He just called me back and was like, Ill work with you on the price, Ill do 400 for you, I told him about the guy I just talked to that would do it for $135 and it only take 3 hours to do. He got kinda pissy and was like, Ill just leave the key in the car. I was like uh ok. He goes, go to that guy and see if you get ripped off by him. I bet nothing lines up. blah blah blah.

I just started laughing. I was like Ill be over there in about 2 hours.

i'd ask for pictures of both guys work. $135 and 3 hours seems very cheap and not a job well done.

                      Yeah $135 is cheap...

Nicole, actually should not have told him about the other fee. Oh well, what's done is done. Go get the car, do pre-inspect to see if anything (no matter how small) was removed.

yeah, maybe I shouldnt of but all well. I gave him a few numbers of guys that I deal with. Like window instals and stuff.

But he also has a paint booth and will be painting my accord (if he doesnt steal anything on the civic) and his work is pretty good

$45 an hour is what collisions shops charge for frame work.

any good frame guy can pull and straighten a car in an hour or 2 with 1 hr for setup so, thats pretty much right on the money,

Stop keeping us in suspense. (or at least me)

What was the outcome on the pickup?

                              haha sorry.

I went and picked the car up. It was the correct shortblock in the trunk, and no parts missing off our motor. Nothing wrong with the car. no dents or anything.

The car is parked outside of my place now.

And I will be calling the guy when my husband gets paid again to straighten the frame (the guy for $135)
