    Anyone Ever Move cross country?

Need any constructive advice you could give. I am thinking about moving from Colorado to Texas

    #2
    That's not cross-country! Haha..

I moved to Arizona from Tennessee in 2004 just before Christmas.

Check your motor mounts, fluids, flush tranny, radiator, anything you need to do.

As far as Texas, I hear the best place to live is in the middle, that way any where you go, you're leaving! Yeah.. lol

    Good luck!

lol colorado to texas is not "cross country". . . but still a couple states away move is a big deal just make sure you have lots of emergency funds saved up and get your car or cars all ready for a long drive. And like the previous poster said it is reminiscent of josers WA to FL move.

X2! I mean it is the biggest state in the union, and bigger then some countries even. Yeah about hitchhikers, don't worry. I'm the guy that doesn't even give bums money to make a phone call. I think the car could make it... It doesn't have A/C though so before I leave I would install all that stuff. IF I move I would probably get one of those PODS things and just meet it there so that way Topcop182 is not driving a big ass moving truck with the cb on a trailer!

I moved from ontario to alberta

Make sure you have extra money set aside for possible problems

Pack the least amount of shit that you can possibly get away with

Research the area your going to be moving to.

Make sure its something you know you can do.....I thought i could deal with it and here i am 7 months later and ive realized I need to be closer to home

                          Ha. Texas you say, eh?

Well let me know specifically what area you are considering. Extremely large State. Currently in it. Been here for 6 mos now, BUT moving back to Maryland. (have my reasons).

Anyway, have some dough for travel expenses of course. Get your vehicle checked out prior to the move as well. Was close to 1500 miles for me and was smooth sailing in my TL.

No picking up hitch hikers, especially in The Lone Star State!

                          Land and Cattle---woot woot!!!

                          Trev.
                          RETIRED...

Colorado to Texas can be done in one day, that's not really that far of a move.
PODS is kinda expensive. If you don't have too much stuff, ABF offers small roll-off containers to make moves just like the one you're thinking of. My brother and family just moved down here from Boulder, and they some shopping around. ABF seemed to be the best bang-for-the-buck. It's the "ReloCube" at http://www.upack.com

As for the drive, I moved from Boston, MA to Tucson, AZ a little over 3 years ago. drove my H22 sedan with no A/C, and it wasn't unbearable.

bring a cooler with lots of ice and water. LOTS of water. and some soda (caffeine is good). put basic tools in a toolbox in your trunk. bring a spare and a jack.
and don't forget maps! If you're a AAA member, just give em a buzz and tell them your plans. they will send you detailed maps highlighted specifically for your route, guide books for every major city you drive through, and give you all sorts of stuff to help in your travels -- for free! (though once again, Colorado > Texas = 1 long day trip)

Other than that, you'll be good. You drive a Honda!!!

ps. when you get to half-tank, start looking for a gas station and fill-er-up!!!
