The bigest consumer TV ever encountered

Working where I work, I come across a lot of TV's. ANd I thought this was the biggest TV i'd ever see in my life.

Of course thats not even close to scale. Its a 67" DLP tv by samsung. The first time i saw that, I thought, FUCK that fucker is HUGE.

    Until Today.

Its a Mitsubishi 82" DLP BIG screen TV. Retails at $6000. It came on two separate pallets. Everyone in the warehouse had to help lift the screen onto the base. It was fucking stupendous.

This is REALLY an epic TV.

But still. I have never in person gotten to play with a TV bigger than 67 inches. I dont know what others here have done or have had experience with.

for 2005, this was one bad mother.

dlp sucks compared to lcd. it isnt as bright and not as clear.
i have a 52 inch dlp in my moms room, and i have a 52 inch lcd flat screen. you can clearly see the difference.

huge is a nice thing, but seriously the bigger the screen is the farther back you gotta sit to see the whole picture. and when a video feed gets blown up huge to fit a ginormous screen the quality isnt that great.

Only $6000, and it's a Mitsubishi? Wow. I remember seeing TVs half that size going for like $8000 when the technology was newer! Still pricey for a TV, but considering that it's bigger than you, it's pretty damn reasonable! I don't have enough wallspace in any room of my house to accommodate such a thing!

Now I have Weird Al's song Frank's 2000 Inch TV stuck in my head

You're not truly mexican if you've never seen a tv that size. Every mexican and their mom has one of those in their home dude.

well newer DLP's are not as bad as they used to be. the angle is the biggest factor.

I mean you do know that a 1080p DLP of the same brand and scale, actually has the same LCD screen in it to use as a platform for the projection?

And for the best TV, picture wise. Plasma is unbeatable. It's the only way to get TRUE COLOR formats and has the best overall definition. Just has some drawbacks....

And that Mitsu was huge! but i would prefer something without the huge speakers for it to sit on.
