Should I be banned from all technical discussions????

I get the feeling people don't want me to make comments on anything technical as absolutely all my tuning knowledge is just stuff I read online

Deev can u ban me from the Performance section???

isnt most of this site's technical knowledge only things theyve read online, and misinterpreted?

I'd have to ban myself as well! My hands-on experience is equally limited, you know that!

When you give advice, be sure you know what you're talking about. If you don't have firsthand experience with something, say so... let the person taking the advice take that into account.

You're not stupid, and the things you learn online are plenty good enough, as long as you know to learn from the right sources... which I believe you do. Your only fatal flaw is that you're impulsive. You dive headlong into a project, and then bail out when it gets overwhelming. Another trait I share. That may be the reason people get irritated... like "if YOU had this problem, you'd just sell the car!" I at least have the advantage of running this place... so if people have an opinion about what I say, they usually keep it to themselves... aside from my moderators, which tell me flat out that I'm being a moron (and they're often right... I'd be stuck without Cisco, Scott, and Mike in most cases!)

From the readings/comments I have seen, I personally learn for you whether beneficial to me or not.

Probably the New Yorker coming out of you, that's all...

True that, I'm def. impulsive. However I think I am getting a little better...

And cp[mike] (too many Mikes) it's true that most stuff people from here know about CBs came from this site, which speaks to how great the site is. But even still, it seems like there's a rift between me and people who have 'actually done stuff' (as I haven't ever turned a wrench)...

I read a lot of stuff and If I don't know the answer to it, I simply do not answer the question.

I only give advice on from experience. Weather it happens to me or to a close buddy of mine which I had to help get through it.

I absolutely hate it when people don't know what they are talking about and start giving out false info. Stuff like that can really screw things up for a person who is looking for the correct answer.

                x2

Not only do make yourself look stupid for posting the wrong info, but you're making someone else look stupid when they read it.(not directed at akon)

We all do it. You just gota think about what you're going to reply before you hit the reply button. Make 100% sure it's correct.

I've actually gone back to my previous posts and deleted/edited anything that was wrong. My replies back in 05/06 are....wow. So don't be too harsh on yourself, just think before hitting reply. I TRY to not speak about shit I don't know about now. But before, I would blabber on about something I had absolutely no clue about just because I had read about it. That's why you really don't see me post outside of the performance/swap sections.

well thats why it's a learning experience. if your wrong someone will let you know then if your not too stubborn like i am sometimes, you'll accept it and be better for it.

and i'm kinda the opposite. I have trouble starting something because idk if i have time to finish it. And i have this OCD thing with stuff not being done. It keeps me awake at night knowing that i can't go and use or see the completed product there because it's not done.

The more you learn, the less you know. With that in mind, you can move foward.

Honestly, you have a great deal of general information, without perhaps practical application. You CAN learn from watching others, although nothing takes the place of first hand knowledge.

I think I agree with Deev. If you are sharing info, but don't know first hand if it is completely true, then just say so. That doesn't necessarily mean it is 100% useless.

You're honestly not bad, though I will admit I did snap one time. It's only when you give specific info that you have no basis of backing up (i.e. you'll make 200whp with blah blah blah on an F22, when no one has done it yet, and you don't have any experience). Other than that, I have no issues.

MOST of my knowledge is secondhand. I've done very little... I can change a suspension, I've assisted with brake rotors, I can do brake pads in my sleep, I've assisted with an intake manifold, engine removal, CAI install, HID install, clutch/flywheel install, some stereo and speaker installation, and... well... that's about it.

I know a bit about engine internals, though I've never actually built or torn down an engine in my life. I know a bit about ECU tuning, though I've never done much more than fire up Crome or Uberdata and looked at the pretty colors.

The thing is to know your sources, and UNDERSTAND what you're told. I do my best not to simply regurgitate information. When I learn something secondhand, I try to understand WHY it is what it is. Doctorcipher is a fantastic one to talk to about anything, as he explains EVERYTHING in detail.
