Free as in stealing music?
Soulseek.
However, I usually buy the CD if I like it. I use "free" downloads to see if the CD is worth my money. If you don't buy records, the artists won't release any more. Musicians don't make music for free... and the smaller ones usually pay out of pocket to release their music to the public (my band is about to pay out the ass just to record and press a 6 song EP... I'm talking about a month's worth of my pay... and my pay isn't too shabby!)

That's going to happen regardless of what program you have. I was referring more towards viruses.Originally posted by visualpoet View PostAlso LimeWire! I have had issues, but mostly with getting complete songs or good recordings. Not all the time, just often enough to annoy the piss out of me.

www.albumhunt.com is EASY, and has a LOT of complete, decent quality, full CDs. It's really worth a shot.

I assume this is a reference to waffles.fm? Useless recommendation unless you're a member extending an invitation to the OP. The last I heard, Waffles started and remained membership by invite only. They started off with a couple of hundred pre-selected people and then they spread the word and the invites. If you are a member, how are they, and share the love!Originally posted by RiceKillinSi View PostAnyone hungry? I'm eating Waffles.

Waffles.fm and What.CD are the best music sharing sites around IMO. They both sprung up when Oink.cd got busted a couple of years ago(google Oink.cd the story is on 1000 different sites). They have inforced rules on what quality of music you can upload so no 50BPS bullcrap gets uploaded. The only thing is you are required to keep a certain upload to download ratio, so you have to share the music you download. Like you said getting an invite is the hardest part.Originally posted by visualpoet View PostI assume this is a reference to waffles.fm? Waffles has been real singy with their invite system lately. I'm think they have reached close to max compacity for members on their current servers so they cut off invites so the site doesn't get bogged down and lag for everyone. If they ever open invites I'll let you know, I have a couple.

I try not to download to much music as I make my own music and I hate when people steal my stuff but, the best way to get music is using blogs with Rapidshare and Internet Download Manager. With a Rapidshare account and Internet Download Manager, you can download a whole album, with track list and album art in very high quality all in a zip file in about 2 minutes. This is actually one of the best places for Hip Hop. I upload my mixtapes on this site to get some exposure:
