word, this is the same short block my roommate uses in his s-10. he's making about 750 hp all motor which is good for a 6 flat 8th mile in his chassis.Originally posted by foamypirate View PostSo, I posted this up on another forum and I learned something interesting. Apparently this is NOT a 350. Based on the little steam holes in the block (below the bolt holes for the cylinder head, inbetween each cylinder), this is actually a 400 cubic inch small block.
That's very good news! It means that, if the crank is in decent shape, we have the crank we need for a 383.
Or, if the block and head erosion can be repaired, we can build a 406 small block.

Looks more like 40 grit, LOL.Originally posted by d112crzy View Posthaha, what are you talking about? that build is full of epic win! LMAO. That hone job looks like they used 400 grit sand paper or something, lol
The way that thing is put together what else they rigged up in the rest of the truck, not to scare you or anything.
Actually it looks like they used anything they had just to build this thing up and make a buck on it.
Luckily Chevy parts are CHEAPER then cheap.
Keep us updated on the build this thing should be awesome.
You should start a thread in the "Other Automotive" section on your build.

There is a small thread in there about the truck in general, I will probably turn it into an actual build thread. Look for a thread title "My Brothers 1970 C10" or something like that. And yes, the rest of the truck is kind of ghetto, but it's a decent foundation. The rear springs were heated to lower the truck, and the coils are sitting on themselves...you can also see where they left the torch on the spring too long, because there are little metal runs, haha. Those are going to be replaced. We already bought a new head light harness, and I am probably going to rewire the rest of the truck, too. It's quite the project, haha.Originally posted by sweet91accordif aredy time i need to put something in cb7tuner. you guy need to me a smart ass about and bust on my spelling, gramar and shit like that in so sorry.

So, my brother and I have decided to make a small investment and get this truck mobile for the time being with the current components, so that it can at least be easily moved out of the driveway and etc, thus I am "refurbishing" the top end. A full Fel-Pro top end kit is only $66, which includes headgaskets, intake maifold gaskets, exhaust gaskets, waterpump gaskets and valve seals and a few other misc pieces.
Tonight, I drilled some steam holes in the cylinder heads to properly mate them up with the 400 block. This should get rid of any overheating/headgasket issues that would otherwise be present (part of the cause of this mess in the first place).Originally posted by sweet91accordif aredy time i need to put something in cb7tuner. you guy need to me a smart ass about and bust on my spelling, gramar and shit like that in so sorry.
