I still want to get an older car. 25+ years are exempt the DOT/EPA regulations, and Turbo R30s are fairly inexpensive! Finding the parts to fix those old things won't be easy... but it'd be really cool to have one! Not quite as cool as an R32/33/34, but still really cool.

Yeah, I learned this the hard way. The mini was off the ship already, but I went into the port and just sat in it. I had three customs agents jump my shit so bad. I thought I was going to get tossed on the floor and have johnny law do his latex glove reacher!!

I believe there are a handful of R32's and R34's (I think the number is like 8 for R34's.) that fell in between the cracks and have California titles because they got them before Motorex was busted, but like you said they're still completely illegal. The owners that already had them got lucky and got to keep them.

This is one of the few legit R33's in Cali.
