Well I'm using the "new" windows 7

So not only did my work switch to mac mini's...but turns out we are running windows 7.

My take. I hate office. I know...not technically windows 7 but they redesigned it for vista and 7 so it counts. You can't find save, save as, print...etc...to save your life. The way I did it, though I'm sure I found it another way before, you have to add it to the very very top bar (which I think you can move). It's very confusing to try and find functions and what not...such as sorting, tables...sure they are all there but you have to click THROUGH a "header" of sorts.

If it weren't for office, it wouldn't be all that bad. The new style is easy to get used to...but not being able to get to the MOST BASIC functions (print, save, etc) easily without having to heavily mod a toolbar or without having to look and look and look is annoying.

Other then that...it looks just like vista to me. It has this lower task bar that is just a revamped version of vistas. It's pretty neat I guess. I do like it...I just hate office.

I don't much care for windows explorer and how it's setup/looks. But once you get used to it, no biggy.

I have had it since last year lol. I had the beta. I think windows 7 isn't too differnt from vista. I certinly will upgrade all if my pc's when it cones out. And what are you complaining about? I didn't have any trouble using windows 7.

Yeah, that "all-in-one" Office button. Biggest piece of shit gimmick ever. Ease of use gone wrong.

Just like Office 2003 and every other Microsoft product, where they try to keep menus concise by hiding features that aren't commonly used - or, at least, aren't used in ONE session and then kept hidden in attempt to expedite work. Then you get frustrated when you can't find options and features that you NEED for another project, or you have to click those stupid drop-downs inside of existing drop-down menus.

          I know what you mean.

I'm sure if you used it a lot it wouldn't be hard at all to catch on to. However, it frustrates me that they even changed the simple functions.

I used windows XP very well back on my old computer, and have since switched over to a MacBook. Every time I go to use Office on a newer PC I get confused.

I was reluctant to go to XP from Win2k. Now I use XP, and I stick to Office 2003. I have a laptop running Vista, and I despise it.

If you ask me, they should've skipped Vista all together.

7 is a great improvement over Vista. Aesthetics may not be much different, but the smoothness (that I've experienced) has increased ten-fold.

I, too, have Vista on my laptop and dread using it. I use the classic Windows theme to preserve resources; and, quite frankly, cannot stand the "glossy" feel of Vista's interface - especially the way it clashes visually when juxtaposed against it's utilitarian typography.

I was fine with Windows 98.

I agree with 98! I started with 95, but that was a little rough. 98 was much smoother. 2k was streamlined and simple to use. XP was too flashy for my taste when it came out, but I got used to it. Vista seems to have taken the flashiness of XP to an extreme level, and made it the primary focus.

                      I haven't even looked at 7 yet.

There is a bit of a learning curve with the new office, but it really isn't that bad once you have spent some time with it.

Haven't tried 7 but don't like Vista, so hope it is better. The XP shell on the higher end versions of 7 should be nice as well.

In my experience windows 7 isnt that much smoother then windows vista on the current service pack. Windows vista got alot of bad rep because, when it came out alot of PC's didnt have enough ram and the manufactures included too much bloatware on them which slowed them down quite a bit. Windows 7 will appear much better because the minimum ram to run it is 1gb. Today many computers even the budget based computers have 2gb's of ram. If you want your computer to run smoother then you need to turn off some background tasks and uninstall bloatware.

I prefer XP Pro with Office 2007. Haven't tried Windows 7 yet.
