    Fight or Flight?

    Curious...

what kind of person are each of you?

Say you were provoked, do you give the other guy 3 chances to end his shit talking, or do you go straight to beating his face in, and crushing his septum?

Or, do you laugh, walk away, and shrug it off?

I ask this, because recently it seems as though a bunch of my buddies have been getting into altercations, over stupid ass shit. Then they come to me, and bitch about it, and I ask them why they didn't get out of the situation. When do you draw the line between proving yourself as a "man", and true self defense because you are threatened...?

I'm not really looking for macho alpha-male responses like "I murder any punk ass biznoitch who might be steppin", but more honest opinions on yourselves and others

    life is good.

Quite honestly and personally for myself, it is all based on the situation at hand. I constantly have to maintain professionalism whether I'm on or off duty. Being an L.E.O. can be frustrating.
Oh, and I have to maintain that same professionalism when I'm with the wifey.

It depends with me, I didn't even write anything about it earlier...

If they make the first physical move, I'll do everything in my power to give them at least a bloody nose and prove my point.

                And Tippey, don't worry. I'm 150 pounds, and 5'4".

It's very rare that I throw the first punch. I'm the type of guy that will say things that are funny to everyone else around, except the other guy in the confrontation. When it comes down to it, if it requires physical violence, I will make you regret it. I might get my ass beat, but you're not going to want to try it again.

I was "courtesy officer" (security) at a long term hotel for two years. I held the position longer than any other person in the company's history. The first thing they asked me in the interview was "Do you have any problem being an asshole?" The hotel was next to a club that catered to a young gangsta wannabe type crowd. Occasional fighting, a couple of gunshots a year, but not at people, just into the air, that sort of place. They'd park in our lot and I'd have them towed, then have to deal with them after the club closed down. In those two years, I was threatened at least 300 times with physical violence, threatened with stabbing once or twice, shooting three or four times, and nobody ever touched me, and I tried to get guys to take the first swing. I would talk so much shit that I would have punched me in the mouth.

I had a crackhead and his fat wife I had to throw out for fighting, they'd been there for months, and were always fighting. They'd been given several chances, and I finally had had it one night. While I'm telling them they have to go, my maintenance man is standing with me, just in case. He's about 5'10, 130 lbs, not big, but he might be a help and he loved watching me throw assholes out of the hotel. Crackhead looks at my guy and says "hey, you looking at my wife's ass? You checking that shit out are you little man?" (he's smaller than my guy, his wife is 400 lbs easily) I looked at crackhead, looked at my dude, looked at crackhead's wife's ass, looked back at my dude, chuckled, looked at crackhead again and said "Man, I can't see nothing but your wife's ass. Pack your shit and get out of my hotel before it collapses." I used to have people come up to me after something had happened and tell me they had been stepped out to see if I needed help, but I'd have some guy backed into a corner and be talking mad shit to him but it would be so funny they'd have to laugh about it.
In that two years, no one ever so much as shoved me or shouldered me out of the way to act badass when they got thrown out of the hotel. And I tried.
99% of the "tough guys" really don't want to fight, they want to look like they can/will. If a guys going to do it, he's going to do it.

I'm not much of a person to swing unless needed, but if someone is in my face and starts shoving me around, i will guarantee that I will immobilize, restrain, and shove my knee in to their throat.

Are you REALLY 100 lbs... b/c my BF is 103 lbs and he's about 5'6".

I think I'm a good combination of Fight and flight. Basically I do a lot of Threatening. lol

I once left my car unlock in front of someone's house when I ran inside to grab something for just a sec. When I came back out there was some punk as kid sitting in my Sentra reaching over the seat to where my pocket book was. I knocked on the back window and told the guy "You have 3 seconds to get out of my car or I'm going to fucking kill you" Lucky for me he jumped out and apologized and made up some BS excuse about checking out my interior. I could have never taken the guy on but I was willing to at least put up a fight (as long as he didn't pull out any crazy weapons)

Kidding. I'm actually ALL talk. I use to work security for Wal-mart and they use to laugh at me b/c I could make grown men cry but if someone ran from me or attempted to fight me I was screwed.
