Total for the repairs comes to a whopping $1710!!

Loooooot of shit wrong with the car, broken wires, missing parts, etc. etc. But all is well now...needs the clutch pedal rebuild (typical for DSMs) which will get done on Tuesday. All heater hoses, radiator hoses, etc. replaced...might as well have him do the shit while he has the car apart and whatever. Too much to name....but after I get it back, it'll be running like a champ!

Why aren't you just repairing some of it yourself?

Rebuilding the clutch pedal is probably something that you should pay a professional to do but... it's not that difficult to replace hoses and what not.

I'm a big believer in the theory that if you can repair it yourself and you don't then you don't get to complain about the price.

wow so it does sound like rebuild gone wrong.... i hope the shop you taking it to does a good job......seems like one thing after another with it....and word on if any of the rtv gunk in the motor and oil passages....other then the oil pan and everything else you could see?

Yea you could have bought a parts DSM or something for that much. I see them all over craigs for around $800-$1500.

how can you fix a broken car with another broken car? what i dont understand is some parts you just have to buy new because they have been revised. You take an ICM out of a 90 accord at the junkyard, it probably wont last too long in your 92 accord especially if it didnt have the updated ICM.

I do not have any hidden money...in fact I am piss ass broke. There is NO option to sell the car without it driving because nobody would pay the money I got the car for. I am having to borrow money from places I dont want to, people I dont want to, etc. BUT I need two working vehicles. I am burning through gas like hell...just between Thursday and Friday alone, we went through 2 tanks of gas...literally. This included driving to work, wife driving home, wife coming to work, me driving home, he driving to pick her up and then driving home again. 6 trips in one day. I cant be spending 80 bucks in 2 days just for gas....if I sold the DSM how it was, what would I get for it? 1500 MAYBE? Then what?? Buy another pos car?

Spending $1700 to have the car running in tip top shape is better than losing money by selling the car or losing money by not having two cars.

Also, as for the comment on changing the heater hoses myself. He got the hoses cheaper than I could find, charged me what he paid for the hoses AND did the work free...I actually came out ahead on that. I know how to change hoses, I know how to work on a lot of the shit...I just have absolutely zero time and yea. $1700 is a burden, but after this the car should be doing really good...it was only running on 3 injectors since the wires were broken in half on the number 1 injector. Also the timing was at 11* and was supposed to be at 5*. They had no timing cover or timing plate so there was no way to time the car since both of those have the timing marks on them...
