Is Honda about to pop its cherry?

    http://www.caranddriver.com/news/car...a_v-8-car_news

This cannot be? The first production model V8??

"Recent rumors also indicate the car will come equipped with Acura’s first ever V8 — a 420 horsepower 4.8-liter range-topping unit. Other more economical engines are also expected to be offered. An optional RWD-based version of Honda’s SH-AWD system is expected to be offered."

    Checked Wikipedia and sure enough:

    "N50C1
    2010-???? 5.0 L N50 (RL) A-VTEC"

Maybe if they put this beast of a motor in the Ridgeline it will have a shot against leading trucks from Ford Nissan Chevy and Toyota.

YES! I can't wait! I believe all other auto manufactures have feared this day

would come. I have heard from numerous amounts of people that said if Honda

had offered a V8 in their trucks they wouldn't have bought domestic or Toyota.

And you can bet an arm and a leg they will be more fuel efficient and powerful.

Even if they start out in the luxury market, Honda is heading towards a huge

          win!

Don't get me wrong.....I love Chevy too but those Honda guys know how to

          build practicality.

Knowing Honda I'm guessing less then 5.0liters but over 400 horsepower easy.

Now I don't know too much about the V8 part which is supose to be in the new version of the NSX but the A Vtec I have read about and its awsome. (I'll give you guys the yin yang version) The Vtec that we have now has 1 certain point in which it engages like 5500rpm which all rockers lock in and then use the highest lobe blah blah blah we know that. Now the A Vtec is a whole new beast and only has one lobe per valve so two per cylinder and has a wedge that moves in between the rocker depending on rpm and would technically give us Vtec throughout the entire rpm band. There was an article in Honda Tuning about Vtec, I Vtec, and A Vtec. here is the link http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/t...e_moniker.html

About damn time. They have had the technology to make a badass V8 for years.

Hondas V8 design has been around for a while, just not put into production models.
The Legend max concept had a V8 (admittidly it was a Mugen engine) but still the design has been there.
And F1 cars have Honda V8's.

put them in series and have an inline 8. id have one vtec crossover at a later rpm

edit: i dont think there are any formula one engines from honda this year. i think it is cosworth, mclaren, mercedes, renault and ferrari.
