if this were during the bush administration all of the dirt bag liberal extremists would have somehow found a way to depict bush as being personally responsible for the oil spill. obama just begrudgingly approved increased offshore oil exploration so why shouldnt it be fair to blame him solely for the incident. you can learn more about this conspiracy in the documentary "unsecured coins"

Increasing offshore drilling has nothing to do with this. All that did was provide more jobs for people. There should have been a better plan of what to do if something like this happend or even still, something as a safeguard to keep this from happening in the first place. The oil and gas industry has a shit load of money and I don't see how spending it on better precationary measurements would be something they looked over. I'm a resident of Florida and love the beach and seafood and it's looking like all of that just got fucked to put it lightly. I also just got my TWIC card and Safegulf certification a while back to go and do that specific job lol. I guess i'm fucked on that one too. I don't know. This sucks though. Summer just got here and it's finely time to go swimming and perfect weather for the beach and this shit has to happen. Even if it doesn't hit here i'm not getting in that water or eating anything that comes out of it. I guess it's rivers and lakes this summer.

As far as that video goes - it makes it look worse than it is, The videos are very close so in every image the oil takes up like 70% of the picture.

Look at a satellite image of it, then calculate that it is only the surface of the water.


I'm not suggesting that what has happened is totally acceptable, just that people/media seem to blow it out of proportion.

Ultimately - Accidents happen, There is no preventing what has happened.
All that can be done now is to clean up the mess, and put further measures in place to try and prevent it from happening again in the future.

it has gotten pretty bad. the methods for containing an oil spill are quite basic and one of this caliber is just too much. its funny how american off shore drillers always have oil spills but countless other countries have been doing it for years spill free. this is what i get for writing a paper on off shore drilling. i hope they can contain it asap though. it just fucks up so many things

You know what's really funny? The fact that the "live feed" BP was showing all along wasn't even the main leak. The most current feed that was aired on CNN and whatnot was the main leak, which is how they're getting those high estimates on barrel numbers. Now we have the new leak 5 or 6 miles away that is worse than this one. What the FUCK?

Oh and Florida's starting to report oil in the rain...people in Louisiana are already getting headaches, nausea, vomitting, etc. because of oil in the air/rain.
