    5 cylinder accord?

    #2
5 cylinder model in Japan wut?!?! Either we have all completely missed something or Top Gear got something wrong. This is the first I've even heard of plans for a 5 cyl motor in the Accord. If it is real, I want one... now.

Honda offered two i5 engines, the G20A1 and the G25A1, in the first gen Honda Vigor, which was pretty much the top end Accord Inspire (CB5 IIRC), but I know it was also available in the 95-98 Acura 2.5 TL.

There is practically NO aftermarket for the G series. Also, the engine was longitudinally mounted, like in a RWD car... but it was FWD. That made for a funky transmission setup (which also has next to no aftermarket!)

I've heard mixed reviews on the G series head. Some say it's very similar to the F22A, and can be made to flow very well. Others say that it's a terrible design, and isn't worth modifying. I've never had one in my hands to see for myself, nor would I actually know what I'm looking at enough to really make that call... so I have no idea.
I'm sure there are some G series engines that have been beefed up and boosted, or turned into NA engines... but I've never seen one.

Very true, but a generic grind will only do so much. Better than stock, if you know what you're asking for... but still.

Really the best thing about them is the layout, it gives the car a better weight distribution

Heres a turbo G series, wonder how much HP it made.

I just wish we had the stupid switch between the vents. Such a usefull switch that our cars lack in america.
