Wal-mart would be the best possible answer as far as shelter, however, it's also the most common. Everyone and their mommas are going to be thinking the same thing. The first ones there will probably guard it to where only the people they know will get in. I always say, go where it's not heavily populated. less people, less zombies. Although weapons are important, it's really about location. If it's a somewhat rural and unknown, you could count on your own devices and not have to worry about going to stores to restock on food when you could grow your own.

i was in a biology lab yesterday and we were working with daphnia magna a small water flea, that had no heart beat (thats what we were looking for, to count heart rate) and is heart was not beating at all , but was swimming around and eating, and acting just like living organism we watched it for about 3 hours ( the total lenght of lab time we have) and it never stoped moving, we called it the zombie Magna, now this could have been a freak occasion, but we had to leave after our 3 hours and he was still moving around but with no heart beat

just thinking about it, a deserted tropical island with a bunker full of supplies wouldnt be a bad idea either. just set up a bunch of landmines and trip-wires on the beaches to stop the bottom-walkers and you'd be golden. once you had an island, im sure you could convince some nice women to help you "repopulate"

This is why those "nutcases" stock up on guns, ammo and supplies NOW. That way theyre ready for "the day".

I dont know that I believe in them. I do have plans as to how to fortify myself, both at work and at home. Id like to be able to get to work if it does happen. Plenty of tools, explosive chemicals and an array of vehicles to get away in. It's also across the street from a gas station.

My question is, how do zombies function? Can they smell the living or do they base their actions solely on what they can see?

Zombies can smell. Zombies will roam the countryside when the food source in the cities run out. You only have to be scratched to get infected.

Ever think what will happen when your buddy gets infected, your wife or child? YOU?

These are all things you have to consider. That being said, it won't ever happen. If it does, I'll hopefully already be chillin' with the Big Man Upstairs.
