First off, let me say that there are many possibilities to what I saw tonight. Second, please post your opinion! I don't know what the hell I saw, but it sure as hell freaked me out.
Driving at night, most things just pass by and I don't take notice of them because I'm paying attention to the road. Tonight, however, was different.
I was driving home from work like normal tonight. Called my girl while driving back, just chatting with her on speaker phone. The drive went smooth as usual, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm about a minute from my house when I see an unusually bright light flare in the sky, zoom past, and disappear behind the tree line. I've never seen anything like it.
As you can expect, I told my girlfriend what I saw without actually mentioning anything along the lines of UFO. I've seen shooting stars (meteors) before, and I can absolutely say this wasn't one of them. How? First off, the altitude wasn't correct. I'd wager that this thing was perhaps a hundred feet in the air at the time I saw it. Second, the amount of light that this...thing...generated was way too bright. With a shooting star, the amount of light it gives off is noticeable, but not like this. The best I can describe the brightness is like a flare. It was extremely bright, and clear like a LED. Third, the speed wasn't right. I could tell that it rapidly accelerated; it didn't have a constant speed.
What really bothers me is that I couldn't document the damn thing. It was there and gone in a matter of perhaps five seconds. I'm not one to start a thread about stuff like this, but this called for it. I don't jump to conclusions; I'm still not sure what the hell I saw. I wouldn't have even mentioned this if I wasn't so shocked and confused about it.
Cliffs: Saw strange accelerating light, might have been a UFO. You decide.
