Read some of it earlier, best possible outcome. Irrational kid could have done anything, even charged at someone with that edged weapon, that wouldn't have ended well.
I say he got what he deserved. 8 years old or not, when you start attacking people, you're going to get taken down if you don't stop. The article is right... had the officers done it any other way, someone could have gotten much more seriously hurt.
The mother's reaction shows little surprise... which I guess means she expected that of him. Strange... shouldn't the mother be the one teaching the child right and wrong? Seems like she's rather "hands off" if she just accepts it like that.
Hell they should have taken there belt off and beating the boy IMO. But pepper wasn't a bit much it could've been worse.
Upon watching video kid intend to hurt the teachers and police so...
Pepper spray didn't go far enough, kids like that have no direction from there parents and will do anything they please.
Nightsticks?

-Did you mean it when you said you wanted to kill them?-
"um, a little."
If the kid was just being rowdy, pepper spray would be too much.
BUT, the teacher barricaded themselves and the rest of the kids in the office... and this was the third time the police were called.
This boy has mommy issues.
Sure... pump him full of drugs for his temper, but bitch when pepper spray is used!
I'm quite sure the police DID try to talk to him first. As far as I know, a police officer that uses unnecessary force can be in BIG trouble.
i say they should have taserd him, all he needed was a couple of volts, to kill his rebelling membranes, and he would have been fine, who knows he might have changed the world
Well after hearing that the police had already responded to two other incidents with this child, pepper spray was probably the best option if talking to him wasn't working.
Just straight up shooting the kid, not an option.
Tasering him, probably would have been overly excessive.
1. Hell yeah they did the right thing.
2. No it wasn't "going too far"
When you look at all the facts that kid is a little psychopath and needs professional help to become a functional member of society. At the rate he's going he'll end up shooting up his school and by then it'll be to late for everyone involved.
The kid said it him self, he had intentions of hurting his teachers and classmates with a sharp weapon. Had he been an adult he would probably be dead now but since he's a child and honestly just seems to be a bit misguided the police handled it the best they could.
If anyone is wrong it's the mother. Yes I'd be upset if it were my child but I would take it as a sign that there is something I need to change in my parenting. I wouldn't take him on nationally televised shows so his shitty behavior can be reinforced. Now he's thinking "oh I'm going to be more of a bad ass kid so I can get more attention" (which he probably doesn't get very much of at home)
Then again I don't know any of these people personally...just my professional opinion.
around here, if we see something out of line or bullies...me and my boys regulate. (this is at school)
We regulate any stealing of his property and we damn good too, but you can't be any geek off the street. Gotta be handy with the steel, if you know what I mean. Earn your keep.
LOL, Could you imagine the police station dispatcher when they get that call?
"Uh, yeah. ... uh huh..... Him again?"
This is what happens when parents don't have the disciplinary skills to instill in their kids right and wrong. Now kids are taught that they can't be touched or hurt or anything for their actions so now some of them do whatever they please.
i agree. Back then if i was bad, i catch five across the eye from my mother. I also remember when mothers would swat their kids on the butt if they were bad in a store.
