At what point would you need to defend yourself with a fully automatic AK47?

Not trying to be a debbie downer, just wondering.

When you realize your enemy has a bigger gun than you, you're going to regret not getting an AK.

I was talking more of location scenario based. For example, a fully automatic AK47 would be a poor weapon to use indoors whereas a shotgun would be a far better choice (in terms of a defense weapon).

At what point would I find myself needing a full auto AK? Hopefully never but I see a very oppressive America in the future, I see the ATF going around confiscating weapons, I see other countries invading the US, I see a collapsed financial system leading to significant outbursts of violence. I pray our country doesn't get to this point but odds are it will, IMO. For these reasons, I'm preparing myself, mostly mentally, to be able to fight and protect my family. Some may accuse me of being paranoid or ignorant but I believe I have enough research, thoughts, and reasons to justify the need for preparation. The best thing that could happen is I'm wrong, I don't want to see our country "go to crap". Anyway, this will get way OT if I keep going about my reasons.

I still need to get a Saiga-12 tactical shotgun for inside my home. For the time being I've got my .40 handgun but a shotgun would be much better, agreed there.
