That is precisely how many miles the clutch in my Fit survived before blowing up. Now I have 3 non-working cars!

I don't want to risk fixing my work car myself, since it's SO different from what I know. I had it towed to the Honda dealership to be fixed. It'll cost me an arm and a leg, but it'll be done right. That's more important than saving a few bucks. Plus, I have a driveway full of Accords, so I have nowhere to do it myself!Originally posted by cp[mike] View Postid say thats reasonable, hah.

It's a 2009. I do know how to drive quite well, but I also beat the piss out of the clutch (I heel-toe downshift often, and I've been known to use the clutch to aid with braking in an emergency stop... especially since I now have a blown shock on the front passenger side, making the car squirly under hard braking.) Honestly, I'm VERY impressed with the Fit's ability to take the beating I've given it. $15,200 well spent!Originally posted by oneoffaccord View Posthave Deev what year is the Fit? i cant believe it has that many and the clutch survived. either you know how to drive/use the clutch or its made very well from the factory.
The EXTENDED warranty is up!Originally posted by Accrdkid View Postdamn.
Well the warranty is up.
I don't know why I even bought that!
The frustrating thing is that the clutch never slipped... I think something actually broke. Thankfully, it happened a mile from home, so I forced it into 1st (hopefully without doing damage... no grinding, at least...) and drove it home at 20mph (4000rpm)

It doesn't want to shift into any gear... it's perpetually in neutral. Getting it into first to get home was very difficult, though I didn't grind anything. I couldn't get it into any other gear. Shifting out of first went back to neutral, and left me unable to get into any gear again.
The pedal pressure also felt different. For some reason, I'm thinking my pressure plate broke.

hmm most likely the fingers on the pressure plate are totally junked. Then again you're not speeding just daily driving it lol.Originally posted by deevergote View PostIt doesn't want to shift into any gear... it's perpetually in neutral. Not speeding? I get that sucker up to 95mph (well, that's what the speedo says... I'm going slower, but my tires are undersized at the moment, so it's reading faster... but all that is spinning at a 95mph speed.) I'll also rev it up near redline on a daily basis.
Still the original spark plugs, since I can't get to them. That'll be fixed while it's in the shop too.

Also, I really want to know what broke.MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit
Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car
Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

hamster wheels. Did you do the recall on the lost motion springs too? There's allot of Fits coming in for that.

The spark plugs are under the cowl... All sorts of stuff would need to come off to change them, and I don't trust myself to put it all back together properly. I can work on the CB7... that's simple, and I don't rely on it for work. The Fit... I have to count on it to earn my living!
I want to know what broke as well. I'm waiting on Honda to call me back. I think I'm paying a $120 diagnostic fee! Granted, it might require pulling the transmission off to properly diagnose the problem, so that's a fair price.
The scary thing is, I'm sure NONE of the guys at the dealership have any experience changing the clutch on an 09 Fit!
I'll have the recall done at the same time, Henry. The great thing is, all the stuff necessary to remove for the recall is the same stuff that has to come off for the spark plugs! I'm HOPING they'll do the plugs while doing the recall, and they won't charge me extra labor. Rich (Jak Frostwhite) works there, but he wasn't able to be the one to work on my car. He requested one of the best master techs for me, though, so that's cool.

Nice man. And clutches on Fits are easy..the bitch part is that you have to remove the subframe..like every new Honda just to gain access to the transmission.
I knew Rich worked at a dealer down there for some reason
I work for one up here as well.

I kinda wish Rich was the one working on my car, but at the same time, I'm kinda glad he's not. If there's a problem, I don't want one of my friends to be the one responsible. I trust him, and I trust the tech that will be doing the work... but if something goes wrong with a tech I don't know doing the work, I won't feel bad going back and asking for it to be made right. The guys at that dealership are good though. The place has a great reputation. I don't expect any problems whatsoever.
