My thoughts: - Americas capital punishment once again possibly murdered someone.
Does that make the executioner, the judge, or the officers family guilty of murder . . . ?
What ever happened to "Guilty beyond reasonable doubt" ?
Car Safety / General Servicing Checks --------Basic suspension checks
My 5.7 LS1 Holden Ute
A "Finished" project car is never finished until its been sold.
If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

Until the American "Justice System" is perfect, there should NOT be a death penalty.
We should demand perfection when peoples lives are at risk.
Since such a goal is almost certainly unachievable in todays society, the Death Penalty must be abolished.
I pray for that mans soul and the souls of those who condemned him to death through the use of an imperfect, racially biased and corrupt judicial system.
I find it absolutely unacceptable and deeply saddening that some consider this the "ultimate justice" for the ultimate crime.

No. It's that kind of mentality that starts wars, genocide and ill willed retribution. Evil begets evil.
To breach another lengthy subject i will say that rehabilitation must always be the answer.
But today we don't have the human resources to provide the care and attention that the depraved peoples in our society need and deserve.
Has anyone really looked into our prison system? It's failing. Horribly.

Well you cant fix child molesters, its a fact. Once a child molester, always a child molester. And yes I have looked into our prison system, I've been to prison a few too many times. And I can tell you from personal experience, MANY of those people BELONG there. Don't get me wrong, there are many people who never should have seen the doors of prison, and even more who stay there longer than they should. Your preaching to the wrong guy on this subject my friend.Originally posted by Function>Form View Post

Again...REHABILITATION IS THE ANSWER. Just because one type of therapy applied for a given amount of time was unsuccessful doesn't mean another type will be as well.Originally posted by dj_ender View PostWell you cant fix child molesters, its a fact. I wish we could serve those in need with the kind of case specific care that they truly need...but like i said..we lack the resources.
I wish i could continue this, but i have work tomorrow.

I'm not saying I don't believe in rehabilitation, but some people can't be rehabilitated. This guy IMO didnt need to die, at least not until they could prove beyond a doubt he was guilty, which they didn't.Originally posted by Function>Form View PostAgain...REHABILITATION IS THE ANSWER. What? That mentality starts wars? Really?
The death sentence has it's place in our justice department, the real issue at hand (and in the link above) is when there is any doubt that the convicted person is 100% guilty. If there is evidence, it should be examined and evaluated before the sentence is carried out.
I'm not trying to argue, I'm just throwing my thoughts out.Been a long time. Still alive...

You can argue, until it gets out of hand, then bans and shit starts flying. Just keep it respectful.Originally posted by WilliamW View PostWhat? That mentality starts wars? Really?

Keep the discussion civil and intelligent, and the thread can remain. I don't object to intelligent discussion, but when it gets heated because someone has a differing opinion... people get banned, and the thread gets locked.
I don't know enough about this particular case to really have an opinion. The article was a bit biased, and gave no background on what actually happened.
However, I do know that it costs the taxpayers more money to put a person to death than it does to imprison them for life. Therefore, what is the need for the death penalty, when we can just lock them away forever? That way, they could be set free should new evidence clear their name. It's not like we put that many people to death anyway... so "overcrowding" isn't exactly an issue.
I do believe in rehabilitation. but only to a point. If someone is convicted of murder beyond a doubt, I wouldn't feel comfortable rehabilitating them. Essentially, that's as good as sentencing some random innocent person to death. Some people ARE murderers. Some people ARE violently insane. Some people are just beyond help.
