Oh, I didn't know about that. You learn something new everyday.

I'll buy the jacket I guess for those "just in case" times, but the trunk area has to be firewalled? I've never had a problem with that either. Well it is a wagon so I think it may be different. It's pretty much the stock chassis. Original gas tank, still leaf springs in the rear, nothing is cut up, it's pretty much just a street/track car.

Really? We were hassled at every track for the helmet. Now where doing a roll cage because my buddy got hassled last year for doing 11.8 all motor without one.

Yup, Seeing how were running 13.8 all motor, and then spraying a 100-200 shot this year were hoping to see 11s so a cage will be necessary.

I always wear my firesuit when racing anything like that. Hell, when I'm in one of the more serious mud trucks I wear it, and the chances of needing it there are next to zero, but as unlikely as it may be to need it, and as many times as you may get picked on for wearing it, they ONE time you have a fire situation, you'll be DAMN glad you had it. They don't cost much either. I have a NASCAR Whelen series full body 1 piece, yellow with all the appropriate badging to be worn at Nascar type events, got it for free. Going to the track and talking to people, you can get stuff like that free or dirt cheap. So go out and see what you can scrape up.

So recap. Cost little to nothing if you're lucky. Sends safety through the roof. The added safety/comfort actually keeps my nerves in check a little bit. And there's no lying, you just feel bad ass in a fire suit haha.

So yeah, necessary or not, I'd still try to get one. Especially if you plan on visiting the track often, and let's face it... You do.

"Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary... that's what gets you." Jeremy Clarkson

You're not JDM until you have a car built in ohio with tons of bolt ons from ebay.

Those are words of truth right there! I'm gonna buy a new one from summit racing(don't feel right wearing some other guys sweat!) It's only like $115 for a nice one and my life is worth more than that! And me at the track often? Nah only about 4 times a month
