    Ratcheting Wrenches

Anyone had any luck with these?
I've had my eye on a set for a while (Since I did my timing belt).
They would've made things much easier in that tight space on the front of the motor.

I have used a nice set of Snap-ons, and I liked them. I'm hoping that I got a set of Craftsman from the Black Friday sale, $29.99.

One thing I have always wondered is how much torque they can handle, but that's why I would only buy ones that I can return without question.

I had meant to buy some from Sears, but my Black Friday activities drew me away from there before it even opened.
I also have the advantage of (within reason) getting anything I want from Lowes for free.

The upper timing cover bolts are what I've thinking of in particular that would've made it easier.

I picked up 2 sets of the GearWrenches last year when they were on sale. So far, so good.

Have you guys used them fairly regularly?
Any idea of an amount of torque they can handle?

I have 2 kinds. 1 the closed end ratchets, and the other set has a ratchet style turn on the open end. I can get pics if any 1 is interested 2 view.

They won't handle holding a nut on from a 1/2 inch impact blasting on the other side of a bolt. My other 10mm is starting to act up because it was thrown in the dirt at the.junk yard.

I have a set of Craftsman ones, but I never use them cuz the damn things never fit into the spaces where a ratcheting wrench would be more handy than a ratchet and socket. So typically, I set them aside and use a regular combination wrench.

I think I've used them a handful of times on other non-car stuff, but since I primarily do automotive work, I haven't found a good use for them.

I wouldn't think they could hold up to 600-1000 ftlbs of torque. Just use a normal closed end wrench.

As stated, they won't hold the bolt at the other end of an air-ratchet, but they do the job for a lot of tight places- especially if you get the slim head ones.

These. Mechanic buddy told me about the sale. And, for the most part, with tools, you get what you pay for. Are theses cheap? Yes. But they have a good quality behind them.
