Last night I was thinking about switching my insurance coverage from full coverage to the state minimum. There isn't any real need for my switch, just something I considered. Then, this morning happened.
[Warning, only mildly interesting].
As I was on my way to work, I saw a honda civic driver who was too impatient to wait for the line of cars heading towards the stop sign, so he decided to leave his spot on drive on the shoulder of the road , where children were standing as they waited for their school bus, just to merge further ahead. "Wow" my spouse and I say outloud.
I get to a stop light a few yards away. The oposite lane had their left turn green light and are subsequently turning left ( I need to make a right.) Once their light goes off so my side of traffic can go forward (and in my case, right) the oposite lane is still making left turns. "Okay-dokay" . It's now dangerous to make a right turn when I have the green light to do so.
Must be the Mondays
I'm making my way to the highway portion of my commuite still within 5 miles of the last two events and a driver of a toyota cam sqeezes behind me , then jumps out of lane in front of me where there was bearly 2 inches of clearence. We were going close to 50 miles an hour. Now I'm waiting in the same lane at a stop light. One car drove practically diagonally to get in front of me. Once again, there was little space between the car on my right and myself.
Must still be the Mondays
I'm at the end of the highway and close to my work place waiting nearing a red light. A driver comes from the back of the line and merges in front of me. After the light has been red for about 5 seconds he decided he was going to go through it. "That was dangerous" I thought out loud. Once I creep to the pedestrian line before the light, another impatient driver cuts her car in front of me, then asks if she can.. cut in front of me. "By all means" I say. "You already started the process."
Short version:
Aaaand now I'm at work. None of the events above ended in an accident, but all had the potential to. So I think I'm convinced to stay fully insursed. I don't remember having a day where I drove to work and became struck by anxiety. It was only a 45 minute drive!
