Is running without vtec bad?

I was always tought here vtec needs oil pressure to work correctly. So I'm guessing once u have that "oil pressure needed" u can run vtec when ever. There are some builders who disable vtec all together. Like always some1 will chime in.

Meh.
As long as you do it right it really wouldn't hurt either way. Some builders do delete vtec all together. Thats true.
Vtec = better gas mileage.
I wouldn't attempt to setup the car to run w/out it if you are after better mpgs.
It can be done safely and reliably though. Its surely not as simple as disconnecting the solenoid and calling it a day though, and having it on a toggle switch would cause all kinds of problems. Hows about you just don't drive into that RPM range?Originally posted by wed3kim a douchebag to people and i don't even own a lambo. whats your point? we, douchbags, come in all sorts of shapes and colours.

What engine are we talking about here? H22, F20B F22B1????
Engaging VTEC via a switch won't really give you any better gas mileage. If you want the best gas mileage out of a VTEC engine your best bet is to have it tuned on a dyno for fuel economy. or stay off the peddle.
Ether having it on full time or off will basically screw up your MPG as your ECU is tuned for VTEC, you will basically be putting your ECU into limp mode.... and that is not fuel efficient at all.

This is what I thought your suppose to have it tuned. Basically I am looking at getting another cb as the one i have is a auto daily and was looking at this car
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Accord...US_Cars_Trucks
I offered the guy 1500 as I imagine this all looks like it was done very poorly and the guy is very ill advised on how things should be done. And when i messaged him asking if he would take lower he stated I didn't know anything and that vtec on a toggle isn't gonna hurt anything. And that he smokes porsches thats when I then am no longer interested. And I thought 1500 was a very fair offer. As the car probably has alot more issues because vtec was hooked to a toggle.

If you are looking for a project the so be it expect to fix alot of crap, i wouldn't pay $1500 for it honestly. If im going to do a honda project i'm starting from scratch or buying real cheap.
Beware of that car looks like a headache!

As soon as I read "needs small amount of fiberglass bodywork" and "it will take minor repairs to get it back to full glory" I was saying I don't want your leftover headaches! If this guy resorted to a toggle switch VTEC, one can only imagine what else has been mickey moused on it.
Biggest question is why is the VTEC hooked up via a toggle? Could it be that there are too many electrical issues or maybe something a bit deeper into the engine. It's definitely not a performance upgrade.Last edited by GhostAccord; 01-06-2014, 02:59 PM.

Thats exactly what i'm wondering. And when I questioned him and told him that was bad on the engine this is his response
You are pointless here in my inbox no money cant bid low ball no knowledge, and just to prove the point of this--- vtec is variable valve timing it advances valve timing to increase power by moving the cam shaft position over to a different valve lobe position that advances the timing so if your are cruising down the hwy and want good gas mileage vtec eats gas cause you push higher RPMS when it enters the Vtec range, Vtec has nothing to do with low mid range RPM of a car so u tell me how running Vtec vs not running Vtec all the time is bad for the engine less wear less tear, sorry if your one of those people that red lines a governed engine showing off and blows your stuff up and cries back to mommy, your wrong get a grip on what Vtec is cause u have no idea and mind u while you say it is a piece you offered me 1500 for my piece so apparently its worth something i'm not an idiot i know more about cars than you probably know about life, i went to, finished and graduated from automotive school i have a 92 h22a accord a 92 monster celica, 92 f250 do some research then talk to people.... obviously you couldn't handle this car and i wouldn't be surprised if this thing smoked you at some point in the last 5 years, matter of fact show up with any mid 80's-05's v4- v6 and watch me leave you in my dust guaranteed, regardless of what you say i've burned porshe's in this car and done things you've only seen in fast and the furious, and trust me its worth well over $4500 all in all, im selling for $2600, i will not respond to anymore of your lame bs statements, either bid on the car and produce cash or get back to craigslist with the rest of the bser's, ebay is for serious professional bidders and sales associates with money!!!!
Now I have money but doing stuff in FnF like wtf?
