    Anyone know anything about these?

I have some cards I need to market (not on here) just trying to gather any information I can get that might educate me a little.

Baseball, Football, Hockey and Golf. So many variances I cannot even begin to explain. I think there is a 100,000 to possibly 150,000 but I'm unsure.

It appears to be in sets? I think I might be doing myself a favor to put it all into one large lot. But not being a collector I'm definitely not in my area of expertise.

If it helps they are from a storage unit where the owner was no longer local and the owner of the cards name was not on the storage unit and therefore was unable to pay the bill to remove the cards. The owner made several attempts to reacquire the cards but was unsuccessful for reasons unknown to me. They were put into my possession by a bidding process.

Random glances. Dates anywhere from Late 70's to early 2000's.

in the last pic, i would guess that the lists of card numbers are the cards that are still missing from those sets...?

good luck selling them, that looks like its pretty valuable. might be worth more if you hang onto them?

The profit has already been made so making a big bucks isn't the goal. It's really just getting rid of them. I honestly just don't know what collectors want. I've never sold anything like this before.

I don't have the room. I have to continue on with other stuff and I never know what of how much I'm going to end up with at any given time so extra space is always good to have on hand.

From what I've seen that era of baseball cards (especially 80+) have very little value since so many were produced, that's not to say there aren't some rare cards in that mess... Most local sods won't want to buy cards of that vintage, I'd put them on craigslist as a bulk buy myself.

I did come across that myself. I think 9 of the 39 boxes are of the late 70's which is about the best of what is left has to offer.

I was strongly leaning towards a bulk buy as well.

Dude there might be some straight gold up in there...you need..some time..paper, pen and www.beckett.com.. Id start with what they list as valuable and filter thru the collection looking for those, then any that sound familiar or some other reason that sets them apart put aside, and look those up..you might be surprised. Nice collection too..

Ya man, I know you just want to get rid of it, but be smart about this.

It is possible there is a really expensive card in there.

I would try to link up with a reputable company and sit and go thru every card.

I know It is not the most fun thing to do, but if you found out you sold a 5k card on craigslist for $10 I think youd be upset, I know I would haha

My cousin had pretty much the exact same thing happen to him, except on a smaller scale. He had about 6 large rubbermaid containers filled with them that he got at an estate sale.

What he did was open up each box, either type everything out, or write down whats in there. Print it out and then put it on top of the container. He did this for everyone. It took quite some time. Eventually he separated them by either sport or by athlete (sometimes 10-20 cards per person) divided them up by that, then put them on ebay. He made alot of money, i want to say around $6,000. Not bad for something he spent $50 for at an estate sale. He didnt find any super rare cards, but it all adds up in the end. You could be sitting on a gold mine, you never know.

Thanks for the reply's everyone. I will have you know that I'm sick, yet again. I was hospitalized briefly 12/28/14 for bronchitis and I'm back at the moment, once again, with what appears to be pneumonia. So getting back on here to respond may take me longer than usual.

I will likely go through them and see what all there is. Not immediately of course but I might as well try and maximize on the deal.

                      Feel better!

You should look around for a good forum to help. I'm sure there are a number of them out there, as there are forums for damn near everything these days!

Also, since it seems that you can ascertain the year and brand of each, it probably wouldn't be hard to find out which cards are the ones to have, and which cards are common junk. You could also get a list of how many cards are in a complete set.
If you have a complete set, I wouldn't break it up. If the sets aren't complete, then yank out the cards worth anything, and sell the rest cheap (someone with a complete set might buy it in hopes of getting cards in better condition.)

Thanks Mike and Tomi. Same as last time, filled me with fluids and an IV of antibiotics along with a Zpak and I'm ready to go. Not pneumonia, just severe bronchitis again. Thankfully.

Anyhow, it's looking as if I'm going to have to go through them. It's just about a sure thing. And I really don't want to. But that's just how it goes. It'll keep me busy for several days.
