Too much restriction, too expensive, not a big improvement over xp. It's like a visual upgrade to xp that costs 300-400 dollars. Not much more than an UFIA. Linux is really catching up, and windows is just less appealing every year.

An article i read not to long ago said that every new "feature" in Vista has been implemented in one way or another in linux for at least the last 2 years. And vista is a Resource devouring machine.Comment

okay i got ubuntu, got it on a cd and everything, and have been running it. i've noticed it will lag everyonce in a while, i'm guessing it will run smoother if i actually install it.
my specs: amd 3500+, 1.5 gigs ram, geforce 6600 256mb, it shouldnt lag once i actually install it, should it?

running off the CD is SOOOOO slow.
it runs flawlessly on my work laptop. which is 1.8mgz pentium M, 256 ram, 32mb shared video memory.
its a blazing fast machine...
