    Civics < Poop

Anyone else think that civics are a wast of time? I hate working on my moms 97 dx. Its just.. cheaply built. Not to mention the 67 whp of pure honda FURY. Anyways, just wonderin if anyone else had the same thoughts.

edit: at least I got the check engine light to shut the hell up. Think the throw out bearing is going though, since it makes a sound when the clutch is out in neutral.

i duno man, the dxs are gonna be crap anyway, cause they are the lowest model, so they wont have anything really, except basics. Some civics like the SI's are fairly nice, and wouldnt mind owning one. However, i do love the cb

I will have to disagree....00 and older Civics are VERY good cars, as good as any older Accord. I work on these cars everyday, and matter of fact, we see fewer problems with Civics than we do with Accords. 00 and older Civics, as well as 97 and back Accords.....you just can't go wrong.

Yeah, SI models look nice... but they just feel cheap, you can tell they are cheaper. Accords forever.

Aftermarket is so rediculously strong on them that there are many times when i consider getting one but then once i get into my friends i see why i don't get one. Lack of interior volume. Plus my head barely misses the roof as I get in. I can tell you that even after being in some of the modded civics I still am happy to get into my somehwat modded cb7 and never am disappointed in owning it vs. a civic. I have been spoiled with the cb7 and thus cannot convince myself to get a civic. Maybe once Honda makes the civic large enough I will reconsider but until then, the cb7 is where its at.

i disagree, i own a 93 civic and ownded a 90 accord coupe and 91 accord sedan, the accords both had many many more problems constantly than my civic....oh wait the civic has not had any problems whatsoever. ciuvics def arent poop, neither are accoirds but my civic has not one spot of rust unlike both my accords, my civic leaks not one drop of oil, unlike my accords, civic doesnt burn oil unlike the accords i have had. and the power is there un my civic the 1.6 d16z6 pulls just as hard as my accords did if not harder. and there easier to work on than the accords.....though neither of them are hard to work on, and the civic has much much more aftermarket support than the cb7. take it how you want but i would take a 5th gen civic coupe over a cb7 anyday of the weak becuaze around here its impossible to find rust free cb7's and the 5th gen coupes look nice imo. and there lighter than accords so the ex and si's with matched hp are quicker. anyways to sum it ujp im very happy with my civic.

every car depends on how it was taken care of for its whole life. Honda's will run forever... and I hope that the 1.6 d16z6 isnt what is in a dx civic cuz i'll slap you upside the head.. that thing pulls just as quick as an elephant with no legs.... uphill

nope only the si's and ex coupes came with the d16z6 sohc vtec. the dx is the base model so its probably not fun....i was anti civic for so long until i got a nasty deal on one. like accordwarrior stated in an earlier thread his friends got a 92 eg civic si and he cant keep up with him......

Yea this def. all comes down to personal experience. Civics are good cars but for a man of my stature....i mean...height lol...the cb7 is what works for me. The civics are made well and do what they were meant to do well. It is just unfortunate that Japan won't allow us to endulge in all there mechanical wonders stuffed in engine bays. It is not that civics are poop, but more like we just get the poop.

i like them personally. i have a 93 si that i bought in 95. thats the closest to a new car ive owned. it also has an h22a swap and went 13.70 at 100mph. pretty much stock, aem cia, dc sports header, and a greddy sp cat back exhaust. its great fun to drive, but so is my cb9 and that my daily driver so its got to be cool to.

Yeah, I know you can put an h22 in a civic and it'll fly.. but I just cant stand how they are designed. Easiest way for me to explain it.. is its the closest thing to a chevy that Honda makes. The SI's typically have nice interior.. but the other models have the bland hard junk interior found on all chevys, even corvettes for how expensive they are. I know honda f'ed up with the maroon interiors.. but they are more quality, just a messed up color.

This is somewhat true to a degree, but the fact still remains Civic's do have fewer common problems than Accords. They don't leak oil nearly as often or as bad as Accords, ignition system failures are less frequent, A/C systems are more durable....shall I keep going? Civics are just much simpler cars and that being said they have fewer problems in general. Its not that they are engineered or have cheaper build quality, they just are not as luxurious and don't have as many "frills" as the Accord, thats all.

All that luxury comes with a price tag. If a civic were meant to be a more luxurious car than the price would not be the "economy car" price it is supposedly at.
