I completely understand the need to avoid turbo on a daily driver. That's why I'm not boosting the H22!

I wouldn't mind a B18C5 dropped into the oldest Civic I can find. I believe the 3rd gen can accept the ITR motor with some Hasport conversion parts (they have wire harnesses, mounts, axles, linkages, etc...)

I feel that Civics don't provide the luxury that the Accord does. It's economical and lightweight (capable of going faster, and handling better). Honda had no need to go out of their way to make the Civic cushy and luxurious... That's not what the car was designed for.

Are they good cars? Yes. Are they well made? Yes. Would I buy one for anything but a tubbed out race car? Probably not. But that's just me. The show community, racing community, ricing community, and mild tuning community have all spoken... the Civic is one of the most common cars to modify. There MUST be a reason for it!

Ok I dont want to sound like a hater but you know there comes a time where you really gotta draw the line.

Cb7s..lets face it they're old 'jalopies' 'hot rods' and 'insert name here'. The thing is about the CB7 it is a great car none the less and it served me well the thing I just really disliked about it was the fact that its highly prone to cancer...and the older it gets the more money youd have to put in just to keep an old car shining and running new.

Now Ive been around here for almost 2 years ( I cant remember what number I was when I joined but whatever) and Ive seen the site drasticly change. Everyone is trying to be like someone else ( I heard that from a fellow member).

Its the same within the Civic realm...also the same within any other make and model of a car..no matter where you go no matter how go and rant about it everyones gonna copy the same damn shit.

Ricers....ok heres a definition a Ricer is someone who slaps on a PepBoys esque 'exhaust' (just the muffler welded on none the less)..who watched F and F and thought 'Oh my fucking word, if I put a flying swords man decal on the side of my car Id be a 10 Second car!!111!'

Also it would be someone who would just put the NOS decal without the actual NOS Kit. To whoever said anyone who owns a Civic is a 'ricer' thats the ultimate stupidity and stupid answer Id excpect from someone who just wanted to chime.

You can do so much with a Civic than you could with a CB7...and anyone here knows that. I dont mean to sound like a prick and Im not trying to burn you guys but when someone makes a pointless remark without first stating the differences..it just pisses me off.

My CB7 could barely house my big frame..and I have the same issue with the Civic...but truly hands down...you cant really go wrong with a Civic.

Better gas mileage...bigger aftermarket support and a whole list of hybrid swaps that you cant even imagine.

Ive yet to see someone take a CB7 and turn it into a track car (strictly racing...and I dont mean AutoX's either).

in stock form it's lack of weight......styling if you like it....that's it.....it's near the same size inside, slow as hell (ever driven a cx? there are some hills on interstates that it will not climb above 45mph), cheaply built and meant to be exactly what it is.....

if you talk about racing, then, you really can't knock either....you can make a cb7 as light as you want....strip it down.....the frames probably weigh about the same.....you can do whatever you want with either......

the accord came with twice the power (140 vs 70, accord ex vs. civic cx), nicer, more solid, great all around......neither were meant to be fast.....but civics WERE cheap.....now, you can pick up a beat up civic for the same price a nice, loaded accord would cost you...

i won't pay twice what a civic is worth....people are idiots for doing so......they want so bad to be like someone else......they see a tricked out civic, and wanna copy it.......and they can, frigidaire probably makes shit for them....but you're paying more for less.......if civics cost then what they do now, other cars would've gotten a lot more attention.......it wouldn't be smart to pay that much for such a plain car......their value is what it is, because people perceive them as more than just THE basic honda......ridiculous

While I see exactly what you're' trying to get across, you're flawed in your logic comparing an Accord EX to a Civic CX. Compare an Accord EX to a Civic EX. The hp gap shrinks to 15, and the Civic IS faster stock. Plus at least around here, the Civic EX is a lot more common than the CX.

But I completely agree with a lot of what you're saying.

true i never see any cx's mostly dx's and ex's...even si's arent to rear.....stock for stock an accord ex and a civic ex .......i have beatin cb7's on many occasions.....even when i was auto.

if you wanna compare swapped vs. swapped, h22a accords that run 14's can be had for $4000 in great shape.....still loaded with all the options......$4000 may buy you a 14 second b16 civic with the same options it had from the factory; crank windows, maybe a/c, heat, maybe a radio......

i just think people are idiots for paying what they do for civics

my loaded 93 vx cost me $2700 with 80k miles on it in 1999.......it would cost you $4500+ today with 180K miles
civics are not that pricey around here by any means there cheaper than accords......bought mine for $500 and would choose it again over ANY cb7....swapped or unswapped. man civics out your way are pricey.....not like that here.

many many civics i see arent rusty at all.......a lot of other imports dont rust like the cb's....that rear quarter rust sucks.......makes people not want cb's...thats what made me get rid of both of mine.......but cb's kick ass i love them but theres a time were they get old and need more fixing than there worth......and trust me....accords out there DO NOT rust like cb's out here......new england winters eat up paint and own cars left and right..........ESP....cb's.

                        1. I agree with you that I would never pay twice what a Civic is worth unless it was in really top notch shape and very well taken care of.

                        2. Eveyone trying be like everyone else...its also taken effect within the Accord community in general (not just the CB7 crowd). JDM is all the craze now...h22as are getting hotter like toys on a shelf everyone has to have that special something in their car..I used to think like that now I need something thats real easy on gas and very much reliable.

And yeah I know of a couple friends of mine in highschool that owned a CX...very underpowered and no power steering.

Trust me man Ive seen riced out CB7s that would put a Civic to shame..yeah it kinda hurts the eyes but its their car and they can do whatever they choose.

I really havent seen a track speced CB7...Ive seen the Touring CD5 version but not the CB7.

As for reliablity issues...id prefer the Civic now that gas has gone up to nearly 2.20 a gallon. If I lived in say...Venezula where the gas price is $0.14 (literally) Id buy the biggest gas hog ala the Exursion and have a fuckin ball going and wasting gas.

Oh heres the differences between the two models one I used to own and one I currently drive when I can to work.

                        Year: 1992
                        Make: Honda
                        Model: Honda Accord
                        Description: 4 cyl, 2.2 L, Man(5), (FFS), Regular
                        City Milage: 24 mpg
                        Highway Milage: 30 mpg
                        Fuel Cost: $1005.00
                        Emissions: 7 tons / year

                        Year: 1998
                        Make: Honda
                        Model: Honda Civic
                        Description: 4 cyl, 1.6 L, Man(5), SOHC-VTEC, Regular
                        City Milage: 30 mpg
                        Highway Milage: 35 mpg
                        Fuel Cost: $817.00
                        Emissions: 6 tons / year

As you can see theres about a $188 gap between the two and the Civic averages more on the highway than an Accord does....if it was built so cheaply then why does it get better gas mileage than a 1992 Accord?

And they're so much simpler to work on as well.
