    Instant messaging programs

Just wanted to see what you all use. I was using miranda up until a few days ago when AOL updated something in their system, and now miranda does not work anymore.

I have GAIM right now, but would rather have the icon in the icon tray rather than sitting at the bottom annoying me.

Dead AIM looks just like the regular one.. dont like that.

So what others are out there? I also want it to work for multiple protocols.

Does trillion count? (Actually it enables you to have multiple IMing programs open at once.) Sorta like AIM clone.

I had Y! but I rarely use it. It seems to be real popular among older people (25-40 year olds). I just don't like the way it operates and just like AIM the chat rooms are infested with bots nowadays.

I also had MSN messenger but its kinda hard considering you have to sign up and pay to actually use it.

AIM works fine for me but I barely go into chat rooms anymore, theres no reasonable UNinfested chat room to go and hang out in.

Looks like there isnt anything out there like miranda... was the best, hopefully they will get the whole aim problem fixed soon.

i use aim.. used to use trillian and the like, but i like to have direct connect work when i want it to.. and it's just easier. i might go back to it when everything works correctly.

hmmm didnt know others used trillian as well..

but as for the DC problem.. i usually sign on to AIM.. and close the buddy list, turn off all notices, and only open that up to use direct connect.

but yea. AIM, YIM, and MSN all on one list is really space conserving. as well as easier to open rather then sign into three different programs.

i also have not heard of paying for MSN, i set up a hotmail email account and can use MSN all i like.. only a few people i know on MSN..but they are worth talking to so i keep it around.

and YIM is just because i wanted to see what all the hype was..

just wondering if anyone uses trillian pro..i wanted to know what the difference was

oh.. and i got that miranda program from ya brandon.. but i never got accustomed to it.. what exactly was it that you liked about it? was it the space that it saved on your comps memory?

yeah, just the space.. it was nice and clean. I dont need a bunch of flashing things and whatnot. Just a list of people that actually works. I also liked how it only put a tray icon in the icon bar by the clock, and was fully customizable.

Actually, I think they figured it out.. lets see if it works now.

well miranda has it figured out for now.. it works on my brothers computer, but mine it will not update my buddy list.. so I have 0. Needless to say, there is no way in hell i am going to go through and transfer them all, so GAIM it will be until they get that problem resolved.

But I agree, AOL sucks, thats why I use the other messengers.
