    Ultimate Race

Ok first of this needs to be an adult poll. with info to back it up. it may or may not go anyway. but if done right this will go on for a long time.

    ok my question...

on the famed nurburgring nordschleife, what race car would when with the top drivers from each of the racing styles in the poll. plain and simple. all are tested and tuned on the track and would have a month of testing and lapping. I will show the cars but not the drivers. (drivers are to opinionated).

So what CAR would be the fastest with its driver around the 'ring after a month of testing and tunning. And yes they all run at once.

i say indy for the best of all of the racing styles. and they can out run (topspeed) the others.

Im gonna say WRC, because of the ground clearance isssue at the 'ring.

F1 car would definitely be able to bring in the fastest track time at the ring. Because its actually designed to be able to take corners..like a knife thru butter.

As for a Nascar or WRC. I highly doubt a car of their caliber would be able to handle such a challenging track.

A Nascar has tall gears which would disable it from ever gaining a high track time..its suitable for Nascar racing only and the closest thing to challenging turns IMO is the Infenion RaceWay in Sonoma CA.

WRC was and is designed for off road use so thus it uses short gear ratios (aka close ratio transmission)..more or less the transmission is designed for a specific dirt track...something a conventional race car cannot accomplish.

Short gears or close ratio equals shorter top speed , and quick accelaration.

but u must remember.. he did infact say they have a month of lapping/tuning/etc.. whose to say they cannot swap gear ratios or the mission as a whole??... its not a controlled polled in the sense that there isnt limits.. but.. i do agree.. F1 car.. defineatly.. although ruling out the leMans prototype wouldnt be fair either...

true that was my point. i mean if they had time to run around and get use to and tune their cars. i think it would be fairly close. WRC and NASCAR i think would be very close and the other three would be neck and neck. Indy has a varying amount of config. of wings. F1 really just changes their angles. But i really think it would be the set ups b/c all of them have simlar power to weight and hp.

I think it's a hard choice between the F1 car and the LeMans prototype. Given the type of racing that both do, with a combination of speed, acceleration, and cornering, it would be a very close race betwwen those two.

depends what the track condition is....if it's bumpy and curvey, you might go with the wrx.

Well on certain parts of the track it does get bumpy..not to mention hills. A lemans car would definitely get some air time on the hill section. From what Ive seen and heard its happened before.

yeah air time would almost be a diff. but it would kill the cars. but why wont there be a race held once a year to showchase the top cars in each type of racing against each other. I mean that would be the best motorsports event ever. have three races, off-road/rally, dirt track, and road course. Have them all be roughly a 4-6 hour race. Man that would be killer. Everyone in the racing world will...well... should be up for that. it would settle every fight about indy vs f1 or bike vs car it would just be the best thing to happen to motorsports since the engine. My only problem is what place could host such an event and who to contact to make it happen/get it rolling.

If you've ever heard of the Paris to Dahkar race. They used some heavily modded SUVs, Cars and even dirtbikes for that.
