I hate to keep repeating myself but the "energy" in the battery pack is in a chemical form, until a circuit is connected and it is actually converted to electricity. Until then, NO electricity actually exists (or rather, I should say, is flowing). It's the damn electrolyte responsible for the weight.

Furthermore, as far as electricity is concerned, there is no additional mass. Either it flows or it doesn't. Electrons "flow" along the conductive metal (wire) as they hop from, or through if you feel so inclined to say, each atom.

sunlight is pure energy, and has NO weight at all........

this has been pretty interesting to read.

one thing, you have to consider that weight is mass with the force of gravity.
you dont weigh the same here and on the moon but youre MASS is the same.

second. what is stored in your battery pack when it is charged is chemical energy. only when the circuit is completed is it turned into electricity.

third. i dont think in the 1930's, scientists were still thinking geocentrically.

              anyway. just my .02.

I don't wanna get into a screaming match, but wherever energy is transferred there is definitely a mass transfer. When the electrons flow from the battery, I'm sure some or most of them don't come back, or somehow some particles are radiated from the battery. I'm telling you, when there is energy transfer, there is mass transfer, as they are one in the same. That's the whole philosophy behind atom bombs and nuclear power plants, and is the case in regular chemical reactions as well...

                  ...wow, just...wow.

I'm done trying. You really need to read up on the fundamentals of electricity, exactly how batteries work, and the definition of an electric circuit. NOT these highschool-grade explanations and NOT just what volts, amperes, coloumbs, joules, and watts mean. Many references out there will not tell you everything.

u guys need to read a book on string theory, theory of relativity and the more advanced laws/theories being introduced lately. light has no mass in short. and yes gravity does bend light, it also bends time. a battery pack weighs the same whether it is charged or drained. lol silly people.

you also have to take into account the psychology of thinking something is heavier at point a than it is at point b, because you can make yourself believe that something is a certain way when it isnt. expectancy effects are a beyotch.
and did you know stuff weighs more when you hold it in your nondominant hand than it does when you hold it in your dominant hand?
                      try it, it works!

from what studies have shown, the earth's gravitational pull has NO effect on sunlight at all........if it did, it would draw light to it, but that's not the case......even though sunlight has momentum, it weighs nothing.....what you have to keep in mind is that weight is basically how hard the earth is pulling you down to it........you don't weigh on mt. everest what you do in death valley.....so technically, if you get far enough away from everything, you'll weigh NOTHING, regardless of mass.......

your example could easily have to do with heat.......where there is light, there is heat.....even artificial light produces heat........
he's right, energy doesn't have mass, it just exists....light doesnt curve around the earth's gravitational field..otherwise we could never have an eclipse....

lol, physics is the easiest class i have... chemistry last year wasnt that bad either...but nowhere near as easy as physics is..

since when does light have molecules...if light had molecules...then the earth's ozone layer would be clogged by now...plus...that's some fast molecules...

Good call... I don't use that except for the best (or worst, however you look at it) ones. Now that I think about it, the idea of electrons simply being emitted from a battery and never returning is just off the fuckin' wall.
