having been in italy earlier this summer, let me tell everyone here that to not watch a football game that italy is playing in is treason. the reaction to a goal being scored for Italy for me drew a parallel to being in gladiator combat and the crowd went crazy as the opposing gladiator was beaten. it was truly something awe-inspiring.

hahahaha - but honestly, you dont know what was said between the two of them. Materazzi refused to comment on the incident, but Zidane was already known for his hot temper. oh well, either way Zidane is still a hell of a player. I thought the game was mild overall, definitely thought it was gonna get heated after that incident. Italy played ragged tonite honestly.

you also have to realize that there is very strong racism across all races in europe pretty much. its rumored that Materazzi said something like "we're all getting our hair cut after the match, you want some?". but thats rumor. anyways, Materazzi is a dirty player and always has been, but Zidane is hot tempered. so it was almost bound to happen. Alot was going on that field that Americans don't even realize. The hate for Italians from the French is great.

i disagree, Zidane wouldnt have changed the outcome of the pk's. maybe, but who knows? anyways, IMO france didnt deserve the goal they had. due to a pk Zidane got lucky. Also, Italia shoulda had that second goal, the offside call was bad.
